I park the car in front of the police station. I know that the compound is in walking distance from here. I lean against the car while Kai gets the bags out of the back. It is so strange being here. Not only to be home but there is no one in the streets. This place used to be alive with music, dancing and parades...now the silence is haunting.

"You ready?" I hear Kai's voice beside me.

"Uhm...yeah." I say. We start to walk towards the compound but I see a bar on the corner with a sign that reads Roussesu's. "Actually lets stop here first. I could use a drink."

And a distraction.

Kai sets the bags by the front door as we walk in. The first thing we see is the bar to the left with a line of liquor behind it on the wall. Then the further we move in we see barstools lined up in a row waiting for someone to take a seat. To the right there are tables spread out for people to sit and enjoy their food. Towards the back is the kitchen. I like this place but I think I'd like it more if we weren't in this prison world.

"Are you hungry?" He pulls me out of my thoughts.

"Not really. I could use a drink though." I walk behind the bar and start grabbing bottles.

"Quinn you haven't eaten yet...I think I saw you eat one bag of chips...and that's it." He sets himself on the barstool.

"I just don't have an appetite right now..." I say as my back is turned to him, grabbing two glasses. It's a lie, I'm actually pretty hungry but I know my nerves won't allow me to eat just yet. "Do you want bourbon or vodka?" I shake the bottle in the air.

"Bourbon please." He say politely. I pour him a glass and then open the vodka for me. "You're going to drink that? I've never seen you drink Vodka."

"That's because all the Salvatores drink is bourbon. I actually really enjoy vodka." I spin the lid back on the bottle before sliding him his drink.

"Shall we toast?" He raises his glass.

"Here's to a good trip in New Orleans....Hopefully." I add. I bring the glass to my lips and take the whole thing in two gulps. It burns as is races down my throat but I love the feeling. I grab the bottle to pour myself another.

"Woah...Remember you haven't eaten so you are going to get drunk faster."

"I know how it works." I tilt my glass towards him and then drink it. He shakes his head with a smile. "Alright...I'm ready."

"You sure?"

"Yep." I walk out from behind the bar and so I'm standing next to him.

"Alright let's go." He says as we walk for the door.

"Wait!" I rush back to the bar and grab the bottle of vodka. "This is coming with us." I smile and walk past him. I reach down and grab my bag as Kai grabs his and we start our walk.

It isn't long until we are standing in front of the old wooden door. It is large enough for a car to fit through. I feel my skin start to tingle with nerves as my hand meets the wood. Closing my eyes to take in the feeling.

The last time I touched this was just before the show, just before everything happened with my father. I press lightly against the wood making it creak open. When it is fully open I see the long hallway that leads to the big open space.

Kai doesn't move because he wants me to be the first one to walk through. I hesitate before stepping one foot in. I walk slowly down the large hall until I enter the center of the compound. It all looks the same as it did then.

There are newer chairs to the left and the fountain in the center is dry. Vines grow from the railings and there are plants hanging everywhere. Walking past the fountain, I go up the stairs and head straight for my old bedroom. I stand in the doorway as I feel Kai's presence behind me.
