Laying the check blanket on the nearly crimson stone, you too set down the cooler box and your other snacks & whatnots.
Gazing conditions were going to be particularly good tonight, your phone foretold, and you had your camera at the ready to catch any glimpse of life amongst the stars.
Sitting from noon onwards, you captured animals, shrubs & people with your lense but no stars had speckled the sky yet. The moon had however, it was so big- so bright in the sky already.
She was a glacier.
Now with very few people about and the odd crunch of stones, you waited patiently for the so called shooting stars; now, you didn't believe in wishes but my, my, they were a spectacle.
The crunching behind you grew and grew in sound, before you turned quickly to see a man with his socks pulled upto his knees stepping towards you in wonderment.
He had a purple shirt too, and a cap that held back some chocolate strands of hair. More of a milky chocolate stubble grazed his face and cheeks, but his arms were smooth- you could see that even from a distance. Smooth & freckley.
'It's going to be a beautiful night.' he spoke, resting for a moment.
With his words, your feet wiggled off the cliff. 'Yes, I'm taking pictures tonight.'
He smiled, a silent laugh escaping him as his face tilted forwards a little. 'You seem to be having the time of your life.'
'Oh, I am, I love the stars- I love astrology! It amazes me,' you pointed at the moon, 'She's extraordinary, isn't she?'
'She?' Lee questioned your personification.
'Yes. She. She is up there watching over us, and then passes her grief to the sun.' you gestured again, your bracelets jangling against each other.
'In that case, I agree.'
'Ahh you see, there might be an astrologer in you yet! Want a beer?'
'Yeah, go on then.' Lee came forwards, pulling his socks back up along the way, ready to join you on the blanket.
After downing three or four or maybe even five beers, the two of you had laughed about the random things from dogs, zodiac signs & why Lee had his socks so high.
'Yeah,' he nodded, pulling them up once again, 'My boyfriend asked me that and I still don't know. There's a comfort in pulling them up.'
'That, I can understand.' you laughed, clinking your bottle against his.
'Oh, look!' he spotted. A star shot past and just as it did you got it.
Checking your camera he leant in. 'I GOT IT!'
'Brilliant! Look at that! Wow.' he was amazed too.
The stars looked like they sprinkled magic wherever they shone.
