The next few weeks after the initial date were absolute heaven. The pair seemed to compliment each other despite their rough beginning and the relationship only bloomed more.
Leaning against the wooden railing a hum left his lips, the salty air right away made him feel at home as did the water nipping along the dock's legs. His attention lingered over the water's surface tracing itself across any waves before eventually falling onto the small device clutched within his hand.
No new message was displayed on the screen but that didn't matter.
Clicking a few buttons he pursed his lips together before music softly poured out from the two small phone speakers, a song that (Y/N) had recommended him of course.
He'd found himself saving each song she'd recommended to him in a small playlist, the title of which was a simple 'Tato <3' title courtesy of (Y/N) once again.
She certainly was beginning to take over his life, not in a bad way but he was thankful she wasn't deterred but he's intimidating exterior and hostility upon first meeting. Merely starting things out with a slow friendship.
The thoughts in his head were quieter than ever when she was around, he no longer doubted what he did and no longer felt the need to keep up such high walls.
His team could clearly also pick up on this change seemingly welcoming it just as much as he was.
Beginning to tap his foot against the flooring of the dock his eyes trailed towards the time displayed along the corner of his phone's screen. She wasn't that late but it was unlike her to show up more than at least 5 minutes late.
'You coming?' Typing a quick text and hitting send he stared at the message for a second or two, eyes tracing across the previous messages shared with the girl before a hum left his lips.
Pushing away from the railing his shoes scuffed against the floorboards, his large form plopped itself down onto the side throwing his legs over the side like he used to do upon first visiting the dock.
His arms crossed before him across another plank of wood and with a long breath his chin rested above them.
It was very unlike her to be late.
A few minutes passed.
Then an hour.
Remaining there on the dock his eyes trailed across the other text he'd sent, each one remaining without a response and without being read.
Clicking through her contact his fingers pressed against the green call button raising the phone up to his ear. The ringer sounded a few times before a loud beep followed after signifying that the call had been sent to voicemail.
"Hey! You've reached (Y/N)! Sorry I can't answer the phone right now! I'm probably doing d-" He'd hung up before the pre-recorded message was done staring at the screen for a second or two.
There were no immediate assumptions as to why she wasn't answering, sure he knew she could have been kept after words or might've just fallen asleep but he couldn't help but remain in place.
Coming to a decision he'd arisen from where he sat patting away any particles of sand that might've blown onto his attire. His heavy steps caused the whole deck to practically shake and with large quick steps he'd began traversing the way towards her work.
The greenhouse was easily picked out against the plain grey buildings and upon entering he was greeted with the sight of an elderly woman. "Excuse me," Calling out to gain her attention she turned staring towards the towering man, awaiting him to continue. "Is (Y/N) still here?"
Upon uttering the name the older woman let out a soft hum smiling lightly, "Ah you must be the man she'd been talking about so much lately, my what a looking." A soft giggle left the woman and she shuffled towards one of the flower bushes. "I'm afraid that if you're looking for her she'd left not too long ago. She stayed behind a little later than usual to help out with moving some pots."
"I hope that didn't ruin any plans between the two of you."
Shaking his head he let out a breathy sigh, "It's no worries. Thank you for letting me know." Right away turning to leave he slipped out of the greenhouse, a sort of anxious feeling began to settle within him but it was quickly brushed aside to paranoia.
She must've been tired is all.
Too tired to text and spend time with him today.
But that was okay. It was only for today.
