Eli and I walked into the school side by side, Eli already getting looks, causing him to loose all of the small confidence he built up this morning. I leaned over and whispered in his ear, "Hey, it's okay. just ignore them. let's go find Dem." he nodded and we found Demetri.

                          
"hey Dem! you excited for another school year of being bullied with me and Eli?" I say mostly sarcastic.
                          
 "oh yes Adelaide. it is so fun being bullied with my two best friends by my side!" he said joining in on my sarcasm. 
                          
Yasmine started looking at Eli, whispering and laughing to her best friend, moon. Eli slowly started covering his upper lip. I grabbed his arm and pulled it away from his face.
                          
I started, "nope. we aren't doing that this year. you need to show them that they dont bother you-" Eli interrupted me. 
                          
"but they do bother me addi." he said with sad eyes. 
                          
"well dont let them. you're perfect just the way you are," I stated, turning to open my locker. Eli looks at me with admiration in his eyes.
                          
"alright lover boy stop looking at her like that. she was just being nice," Demetri teases him. I laugh as I put my backpack in my locker. Eli turns red and looks away.
                          
"Alright so, I have math first period." I started.
                          
"same," Eli said quietly.
                          
"and I uh have... history first period. seriously? who wants to learn about history at 9 am." Demetri complains whipping his schedule in the air.
                          
"biology second period, history third," I mumbled reading my schedule.
                          
 "hey we have lunch fourth," Eli stated softly. 
                          
"cool." Demetri and I said in sync. 
                          
"so I have math with Eli, biology with Demetri, history with nobody... fun. lunch with both of you, health, yay, with Eli, English by myself, and PE with both of you! cool." I said trying to be as enthusiastic as possible.
                          
Eli and I headed off to math, "uh Adelaide." 
                          
"what's up e?"
                          
"uh, uh, never mind."
                          
"okay?"

it was now lunch, Demetri, Eli and I was sitting at a table, just us three. I kept taking glances around the cafeteria looking for Miguel. Demetri gave me weird looks every time I did so. 
                          
then, Miguel approached our table. Eli perked up, as did i.
                          
"is it cool if I sit here?" he asks.
                          
 "ooh, sorry, tables blowing up right now. I can put you on the waitlist, but it's probably next semester at the earliest." Demetri says sarcastically towards Miguel. 
                          
Miguel looked disappointed and confused, "okay." Miguel stated as he started walking away. I smacked Demetri.
                          
 "Miggy, he is kidding sit." 
                          
Miguel sat down in between Eli and me. "Miguel." 
                          
"Demetri. this is Eli." Demetri greeted. 
                          
"and you know me, Adelaide!" I said making a jazz hands motion. 
                          
"hi." Miguel said quietly to Eli, Eli looked away fiddling with his hands. 
                          
"he is a man of few words." Demetri said. 
                          
"wait how do you know Adelaide," Eli asked quietly. 
                          
"oh uh, Miguel just moved into our apartment complex last week, across from my apartment. when my dad got arrested over the weekend, long story. Miggy let me stay at his place." I said excitedly. Eli nodded his head, his face gave off a bit of jealousy.
