even with ten blocking it out with the pillow, the noise still continued loudly in his poor ears. growing fed with it, his eyes fluttered awake. with an annoyed frown, he got out of johnny's bed and walked over to the door. not without wincing every other step, of course.
"what is that?" he mumbled to himself in a low whisper, finally reaching the door. ten reached a hand and opened the flat, moving his face closer to see what it was. which turned out to be a bad idea he didn't see coming.
in a flash, a claw like hand managed to slash across the small open space, making ten jumped back, letting out a small yelp of surprise. the flat snapped shut at the same time when his hand had jerked away from it.
"ten?" came johnny's sleepy voice from the couch. "what's wrong?"
"it's nothing," ten retorted nonchalantly, hearing the scratching noise start again. "probably just some cat outside."
he turned his head, shooting johnny, who was peeking from the other side of the couch, a reassuring smile. but it didn't reassure johnny in anyway.
knowing what he's seen out there — the crazy woman, the hulk-like monster that attacked ten — that's no cat. growing worried, he got up from where he sat, joining ten beside the door.
"johnny, it's fine-" ten started but was cut off when the taller spoke again.
"that's no cat, ten," johnny responded. "i know it."
ten knew that was true, but he didn't want him to try and fight that monster too. he could've died taking on hulk and a big part of him doesn't want to be alone without him.
the flap was open again and johnny peeked through the small, rectangular space in the door. sure enough, crouched down to the floor, was a crazily haired cat-like creature, baring it's teeth at him. it looked ready to leap up and attack him.
reacting quickly, johnny shut the flap once more, hearing sharp claws scrape the material. how were they gonna get rid of that?
"i don't think it's gonna leave," johnny said after awhile, the scratching starting back up again. he thought back to the first monster he faced two days ago. she had luckily moved on, but it wasn't after he stabbed a sharp knife into her forehead.
"well, i don't know how to fight it," ten himself was thinking of the first monster he faced. the cat-like monster almost got him earlier and he was saved by the barrier between them.
johnny thought for a moment. should they just ignore it? but it would be hard to with all the noise it was making. he could fight it, considering the fact that he literally got hit the face with a door the day before and that hadn't done him in...
the same monster from before purred again at the thought of fighting whatever the hell was outside to protect ten. it loved the sound of that.
"you know what?" he said suddenly. "i got this."
"johnny!" ten retorted in shock.
"i'll at least try to chase it off," johnny said with a grin, heading into the kitchen to grab a knife to defend himself. "i survived the first time, i can survive this time too."
ten opened his mouth to argue again but no words came out when the door was unlocked. the monster backed away, looking up at johnny with it's yellow, narrowed eyes. it let out a hiss and jumped at him. the door was shut behind him quickly, leaving ten out of this.
johnny pushed the monster away from with his own fist, hearing it yowl in pain from the force of the hit. however, it didn't back off, coming at him again, it's teeth bared and claws raised and ready to strike.
