THIRD PERSON
                          
johnny's flight was landed, and he decided to go to mackenzie's place. she must be there. 
                          
a long uber ride later, he was standing outside the building, with his luggage beside him.
                          
the guard helped him take the luggage to the newly constructed elevator and pressed the button to her floor. the elevator doors closed as john entered it.
                          
he was anxious to see her. what if she told melissa?
                          
the elevator doors opened and he took out his luggage. he nervously walked and rang the doorbell. 
                          
melissa's nurse opened and welcomed him. he smiled and greeted her.
                          
he knocked melissa's door and waited.
                          
when mackenzie opened the door, her smile faded as she was not expecting him at all. he looked down in shame. 
                          
melissa noticed john standing outside and exclaimed, "john !"
                          
phew, she didn't tell melissa. 
                          
"hey guys, i was returning back to new york so i thought i'd come here before going home. i missed mackenzie so much." 
                          
"aww ! i'm gonna take a walk outside, give you guys some alone time." she smirked, "but let's catch up after i come back !"
                          
before they could say anything, she got out of the room.
                          
"what are you doing here ?!" she whisper yelled. she couldn't help it even though she thought he didn't know that she knew. (a.n : why do i get friends vibes from this pls-)
                          
"look, i know you know." he whispered. 
                          
she acted clueless, "about what?" 
                          
"oh come on, you don't have to act. i saw the screenshot. you sneaked in and checked my phone !" 
                          
"and you're cheating on me !" she yelled back. 
                          
he sighed, "it's not what it looks like. that's why i came here to explain-"
                          
"i don't want your explanation ! i want a divorce !" 
                          
a divorce ?! 
                          
"what ?" he said in shock.
                          
"why not ? you cheated on me, and the work is done anyway, so what's the point ?" she said. it was hard to say it while looking into his eyes, she still loved him.
                          
"but the contract states that this has to go on for one year. if we get a divorce, my family will get suspicious and take back the enterprise !" he exclaimed.
                          
she sighed. it was a deal. she signed the contract. she had to do it. there was no escape. 
                          
"what about the rule thing in which you have to pay ?" she asked.
                          
"well, both of us broke the rules-"
                          
"i didn't cheat on you !"
                          
"you proposed a divorce. so we can call it even i guess?" he asked.
                          
"sure." 
                          
"now please can i explain-"
                          
"as i already said, i don't want your stupid explanation !" 
                          
"but–" he stopped speaking as he heard footsteps approaching. 
                          
as a reflex, he quickly grabbed mackenzie's face and pressed his lips on hers. her eyes widened. 
                          
before she could push him away, she heard the door open, so she decided to go along with it. he's clever. 
                          
"you guys are so cute !" melissa said in awe.
                          
they pretended to be surprised. "sorry mom, didn't see you there." mackenzie mumbled.
                          
they all chatted and laughed together, melissa not aware of the tension between the two.
                          
"i should go, i haven't even told my family about my arrival." 
                          
"mackenzie, you should go with him." melissa smiled.
                          
"i can stay with you for tonight." 
                          
"it's okay, mackenzie. i'm fine here. go with john. i'll see you tomorrow." 
                          
"okay. i'll miss you !"
                          
they took their luggage and got inside the car. john had called his driver in advance and he was waiting for them.
                          
and boy, the drive back home was definitely awkward.
