With everything that had just happened it was quite awkward between the two of us as we sat on the chairs in front of the fire. We sat in silence as I watched the fire move but out of the corner of my eye, I could see Fred looking at me. He kept opening his mouth like he wanted to say something but then he would shut it again.

It got quite warm, so I pulled of my robe and cardigan. As I pulled my last arm from the sleeve of the cardigan Fred finally spoke "I'm sorry". I finally looked at him properly before muttering "It's fine". He shook his head at my words "No its not!".

"Fred really it's fine, just forget about it please" I sighed.

"It's not fine y/n. I did and said some horrible stuff that I wouldn't ever expect you to forgive me for. I'm not sure what I need to do to make this right, but I promise I'm going to do everything I can to make it up to you." I looked at him and gave a really weak smile. I knew I wanted to forgive him, but it was just going to take some time.

George eventually returned with the ice. He sat next to me and gently pressed the ice against the skin. I flinched slightly at the cold contact. "It going to leave a mark for a while" he said looking at it. "It's fine, I can cover it up with some makeup" I shrugged.

After some time, the ice had almost melted and so George took the ice back. "I'm going to head to bed will you tell George I said goodnight?" I said standing up to head up stairs. "Yeah of course" he replied. I walked towards to stairs leading up to the dorms but before walking up I turned back around to look at Fred.

"It is by the way" I said looking at him.

"What?" he asks confused

"You said I was your best friend earlier, but it should have been 'is'" I smiled slightly

I saw him smile at those words, "Goodnight Freddie" I smiled walking up the stairs as I heard him call "goodnight back".
