SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 9th 1987

"god, i can't believe the last time i was down here was when we figured out the portal existed and i got to see you guys again for the first time since i woke up from my coma." i said, mostly to myself as i walked down the steps into corey haim's basement.

"yeah, that seems so long ago." he chuckled.

"and the time before that was the night of the lost boys premiere." corey feldman said.

"that's when you were talking about leonardo dicaprio like you had a crush on him but he's only like, thirteen." haim laughed, clutching his stomach.

"you think leonardo dicaprio's cute?" jason looked at me, laughing as well.

"no!" i shook my head at my three friends who stood in front of me, "when he's older he's cute, like in the titanic."

their laughter died down fairly quickly and was replaced with confused looks.

"kennedy, you time travelled from the future remember? the titanic sank in 1912 and i don't think leonardo dicaprio was on it." feldman explained to me.

"oh my god!" haim exclaimed, "is leo a time traveler too?" his eyes were practically popping out of his head.

"geez, you guys." i shook my head sarcastically, "no, they make a movie about the titanic and leo plays a character on the ship. he drowns, let's go of the stupid door and dies!"

"i have no idea what that means but, damn." jason said, "i feel like we know nothing. like, we're missing out on so much! you know of all these movies and big events that happen and look at us, just living in the boring year of 1987."

"don't worry, all of this stuff will come to you. the movie titanic comes out in the late 90s i'm pretty sure." i shrugged, taking a seat on the floor.

haim handed me the case of beers jason bought us from the liquor store before we came here. i place it on the floor in front of me and start to rip open the box.

"did you ever find out the year river phoenix dies?" feldman asked, taking a seat on the couch next to jason.

haim sits next to me though, on the floor.

"yeah." i nodded my head, handing him and jason a beer, "1993."

"do you know the specific date? we need to try and prevent it!"

i dig into the back pocket of my jeans and pull out a small folded up piece of paper. the three of them have been very adamant about wanting to know the date river and corey haim pass, so i made sure to write them down.

"october 31st, 1993." i read off from what i wrote earlier today.

"that's only six years from now." jason frowned, looking down at the beer he's holding.

"what about me?" haim asked anxiously and the minute my eyes look down at the paper again, i see him chugging his beer out of the corner of my eye.

i sighed, "do you really wanna know? i don't have to tell you-"

"remember what i told you in the car last week? we're all gonna die at some point. it's okay, really." he nodded his head at me.

"march 10th, 2010." i said quietly.

the room fell silent and my eyes flicked around between the three of them, waiting for any reaction of some sort.

"you guys, it's fine!" haim broke the silence, "i've got plenty of time with all of you." he's smiling at us with his usual cheeky grin that automatically makes you smile back.
