Shut up or I'll kiss you

My friends and I are sitting in my boot and are talking.

"Hey Gilly, remember Genevieve?" Jax asks.

I think of the snobby fancy smancy I met long ago. "Yeah. Why?" I ask.

"Why were you so rude to her?" Jax asks.

"She started it!" I exclaim.

"Started what?" Jax asks.

"She called me a villager like I was below her. Well, I had to let her know she wasn't so high and mighty," I say.

"Wait, wait. What are you guys talking about?" Kayla asks.

"Well, before the whole 'Anna gets sentenced to Fairy Tale Reform School' thing, Gilly and I met in front of Combing the sea. There, Gilly met princess Genevieve and she was very rude to her and I want to know why," Jax explains.

"Wait, are you saying that Gilly was suddenly rude to the RA girl all because she talked to you?" Jocelyn asks.

"She was rude!" I exclaim.

"She wasn't really rude, but Gilly got all..." Jax says.

I growl. I was not rude without a reason, she deserved it!

"I get it," Jocelyn says.

"You get what?" I ask.

"Well, you see, I'm guessing Genevieve was pretty, so when she came over and maybe looked a little down on Gilly, Gilly felt threatened, like she was competition, so she got overprotective over you," Jocelyn says.

"What! I was not!" I exclaim.

Jax laughs. "Well, she was pretty-"

"Oh, so you like her better than me?! Is she prettier, is that why? She is not better than me, thank you very much!" I exclaim.

"I don't like her better than you! And why would I like her more because she's pretty?! And who said she was prettier than you? Nobody, that's who! I'm not going to vote who's better!" Jax exclaims.

"Ah, here comes the jealousy. Jax don't you see it? She thinks Genevieve is prettier than her," Jocelyn says.

"Shush Jocelyn, you know nothing," I say and glare at her.

Jax chuckles. "So I see. You were overprotective. How sweet," he says, still laughing.

"Shut up or I'll kiss you Jax," I threaten.

Jax tilts his head to the side and lifts an eyebrow. "Oh, so you're gonna kiss me then?" Jax teases.

"Well, it's worse than killing you," I say.

Jax shakes his head. "No. It's not. Well, unless you're a bad kisser," he says.

"Bad kisser- I've never even- how is that not worse that killing you?! Do you want to kiss me?!?!?!" I exclaim.

"I don't want to kiss anyone and I'd rather you kiss me than kill me because if you killed me I'd be dead," Jax says.

"Wait, Jax. You said bad kisser. Have you ever kissed anyone?!?!?" I half scream, half question. I don't know why I care so much about the answer. What would it matter? I'm not in love with him.

It's because you-

I just want to know if my best friend kissed a royal or not.

"Well... once a princess tried to kiss me. Actually, multiple princesses have tried to kiss me," Jax says.

"No surprise there," I say without thinking.

Jax grins at me. "Are you saying I'm-"

"Because if all the RA girls are like princess Genevieve, a lot have a crush on you. Genevieve obviously does," I say quickly.

"Oh no, we're just friends," Jax says.

"Are you blind, Jax? She obviously has a crush on you!" I exclaim.

"Where's the proof?" Jax questions.

"Okay, this was literally her," I say and switch to another voice. "Pulls on hair as she heads toward handsome prince. 'Hi Jax.' Looks down on the other girl because she wants you to herself," I say.

Jax smiles.

"It's so obvious in her behavior," I say.

"Yeah, I guess I see it now. But Gilly?"

"Yeah?"

"You just called me handsome," he says.

"That's what she thinks!" I exclaim.

"Sure, Gilly, sure," Jax says.

Someone clears their throat behind me and I turn. It's my father. What has he heard? I resist the urge to blurt out 'we were totally not talking about crushes and kissing!'

"If I may cut in," my father starts. "When princess Rapunzel came over to give an invitation for the ball, Gilly played with her hair while asking 'Is Jax going?' So what does that conclude? If a girl plays with her hair out of nervousness, while talking/thinking about or to a boy she likes, what does Gilly's actions point toward?" My father says and walks away.

"He's saying- he's saying-" Jax gasps, laughing.

"Ignore him, he knows nothing. Me playing with my hair has nothing to do with you," I say, blushing.

"Of course it doesn't Gilly, of course it doesn't." Jax smirks.

I try to ignore him and turn to my friends. "How are you guys so silent?" I ask.

"We're afraid we'll miss something," AG informs us.

"This is amazing," Maxine says.

I sniff and hold my head up high. "Whatever." I guess my mother takes pity on me, if she even knows what we're talking about, cause she comes up to us.

"Anyone want snacks?" She asks.

"Yes please," we all say.

And that ends our talk about crushes and kissing. Let's hope I won't get embarrassed this much again.

You have no idea Gilly. You have no idea.

***Jocelyn's mind: Ha! Gilly got all overprotective of Jax because she got all threatened by a princess. And how she said 'shut up or I'll kiss you' instead of 'shut up or I'll kill you' and Jax's comment to it was so funny. Then the conversation went to crushes and kissing. But when Gilly's father told us about Gilly playing with her hair while talking about Jax oh my goblins Gilly blushed bright. I really do like the Cobbler now. Anyways at least I have another moment to add to my Jilly file.
