"I can hide from everyone else and they won't bat an eye. No, they never can tell when I'm falling apart on the inside"
NAOMI'S POV:
"Should I just order us both a steak?" Josh says staring at the menu.
"Well, I'm actually a pescatarian,so I was planning on getting the lobster." I say putting my menu to the side.
"Really? I had no idea. Is it for health reasons?" He says curiously.
"I guess I just feel better when I don't eat meat. There is no particular reason."
"Huh... So are you excited for the recital tomorrow?"
He remembered?
That's sweet.
Oh god don't you fucking blush over the bare minimum.
"Oh yeah, um well... I'm pretty excited. The kids are nervous but they're all well prepared so it should go great..."
Then in a quick decision...
"Would you like to come?" I say quickly then I take a sip of my drink.
"I'd love to." He says sweetly.
"Great!" I sigh in relief.
He chuckled then starts to stare behind me.
"What's wrong?" I ask with my brows furrowed.
I turn around and realize that he was looking at Harry's table.
I don't know why though. They are talking amongst themselves and having a laugh.
I turn back to Josh.
"Oh it's nothing." He tries to brush it off.
"Okay...." I say not fully convinced.
"So what time is it tomorrow?" He says changing the subject.
"The recital is at noon."
"What time will you have to be there to set everything up?" He asks.
"I'll have to get there about an hour earlier. Why?"
"How about I pick you up, and I'll take you there and help you set up?" He says kindly with a big grin.
"I think that would be perfect." I say with appreciation.
He reaches for my hand across the table and I give it to him.
He's the best.
"Tell me something I don't know about you yet." He says looking at me fondly.
Well there is the obvious thing...
I could just get it out of the way now...
I take my drink and chug the rest of it.
Hey liquid courage never hurt.
"I wanna be a singer. I write songs. And I want to be a singer as a profession." I say quickly.
There was a pause of silence in which I thought I might have a heart attack.
"Really? Like a real singer?"
"Yes."
"Don't you think that's a little unrealistic?"
"Uh well I-"
"I just don't want you to get hurt when you don't make it."
"When?" I say raising my brow.
"No, no I meant if." He starts back peddling.
"Uh huh." I nod unconvinced.
"No,no I really did. But, well... You won't sing in front of anyone and it's hard to make it and.... You know?"
