Lucy was not sure that she had ever felt the amount of worry that she currently felt running through her veins. She sat anxiously in a stiff chair beside Draco's white linen bed in the infirmary just as the sun dipped behind the Forbidden Forest. It was a struggle to stay awake, but not impossible while gazing at the boy in front of her. His shining blonde hair was disheveled and fell ever so gently upon his forehead. Draco's lips were slightly parted as he slept peacefully. As she watched over him, Lucy even found herself amused by the fact that he was so tall, his feet nearly dangled off the bed. For the most part, his wounds were healed, but bands of light pink scars were now permanently etched into his pale torso. She knew he would eventually find a way to brag about the scars one day.
The remainder of the day had gone by agonizingly long as she waited for him to wake. Draco stirred here and there, and let out a groan of pain, but he had yet to open his cerulean eyes. Their friends had visited with worry in their eyes and a change of clothes for Lucy. She was relieved he had been given the finest pain potion from Madam Pomfrey before the matron insisted that Lucy herself, should rest after handing her a Draught of Peace. The vial containing the fuschia-colored liquid sat untouched on the bedstand. The raven-haired girl let her eyes flutter close for just a moment. Just a moment became an unknown number of dreamless hours.
The cold touch of a hand caused her to jolt awake, her chocolate eyes wide with surprise. Madam Pomfrey stared down upon her with a frown, yet her eyes were soft and understanding.
"I thought I told you to take that Draught dear," the matron sighed, forcing the vial into the unwilling girl's hands.
"Sorry, ma'am I'll take it now," she began before unstoppering the vial and guzzling down the draught which had the faint taste of berries and lavender. Madam Pomfrey nodded approvingly at this.
"Get some rest," she insisted, motioning to the empty bed on the other side of Lucy. "I'll be back in a couple of hours, and you best be asleep when I return,"
Lucy nodded, preparing to tuck herself into the thin sheets that smelled extraordinarily clean as the matron exited the infirmary with a sharp thud of the wooden door.
"Lucy? " a hoarse voice suddenly called out.
Draco's eyes were a stormy grey as he peered around the infirmary with uncertainty. His eyes flickered over to her as she moved to be at his side.
"I'm here," she reassured him, quickly grasping his hand with gentleness.
"What happened?" he asked roughly. "I remember Potter—"
"He cursed you," Lucy informed him breathlessly. "But Snape—Snape knew the countercurse,"
"Snape? " he scoffed, rubbing his eyes gently before attempting to sit up. "Shit! That fucking hurts,"
She quickly jumped into action to help him carefully sit up before handing him a glass of water.
"You lost a lot of blood," Lucy told him quietly. "It was terrifying, Draco. I thought—"
