I went straight to my room after I arrived and laid on the bed
I covered myself with a flannel that was nearby
I wanted to be alone and just cry about how foolish I was to think all of this would turn out right
We should've let them know from the start
What Nathan's mother accused me of really hurt me even though it wasn't what it seemed like, thinking I'd do such a thing broke my heart
She didn't trust me
Tears rolled down my eyes continuously
This was the best and worst birthday of my life
I wish Nathan was here to tell me everything was going to be okay, that he'd help me fix all of this
But it's been an hour and he hadn't showed up, maybe his mother didn't let him
Fresh tears came out rolling down across my upper nose to the other side of my cheek
I'm such a bad person
I put him in a bad position with his mother and now I want him here to defy his mother and come to me
I sniffed
I can't do this alone
I want him in our baby's life, he promised he'd be with us each step of the way
I put arms protectively on my tummy sobbing
I wish he was here
I was deep in thought when all of the sudden I heard sirens of the police outside
I frowned
Why were they here?
I got up and hurriedly left my room and quickly walked downstairs
I saw my mother coming from the kitchen going towards the front door
The door opened revealing my father
I stopped on the last step of the stairs looking at him, curiosity taking the best of me
"Why were they here?" Mom asked my unasked question
"A man trespassed our premises, he had to be dealt with" he said trying to control his temper
"That's odd who was it?"
He walked to the living and we followed him
He stood in the centre of the room looking into open space
Something told me this wasn't just any man
"Nathan" I whispered
Mom looked at me surprised then at Dad
"Was it Nathan?"
He didn't reply
Mom walked towards him and put her hand on his chest
"Anold" she whispered
He looked at her and his face softened
He ran his hand through his hair and walked a few steps aways from her sighing
Tension was thick in the room
Dad was a ticking bomb and I had to leave before he blew up, him not saying a word or shouting after we got home made me feel scared of the future
He didn't shout at me, he was dangerously quiet
I took a step trying to leave when he stopped me with his words
"You're pregnant"
I looked at him and he gave me the most disappointed look he's never pulled my whole life
"How could you be so careless?"
Tears rolled down my eyes
"This boy has been trouble for you from the start" he raised his voice
"Dad-"
"He accused you of stealing"
"Dad" I sniffed
"He used you to get over his stupid ex but it wasn't enough he came back for more and now-"
"Dad" I shouted
"Don't you use that tone on me" he raised his voice even higher "know your place when you're speaking to me child"
"Honey" mom started
"No! Not today" he looked at mom "I won't sit back and watch them break my daughter in all possible ways"
If that was Nathan then what were the police doing here?
"You!" I looked up to him "you're not seeing that boy again" he said leaving no room for discussion as he started walking out of the room
"No no dad I can't please dad don't do this" I begged as I followed him "please Dad I love him, he's the fath-"
"I SAID YOU WON'T SEE HIM!"
I flinched at his sudden outburst
"I'll support the child, but I won't let that boy near my family ever again that's final now go to you room" he shouted
"What has he ever done to you" I said sobbing"
"He hurt YOU!" he shouted "he hurt my only child"
"Don't you want your grandchild to have a father figure?" I sniffed and wiped my tears with the back of my hand "was he here?"
"I got him arrested"
I closed my eyes as tears ran down my eyes
"I need him dad" I sobbed "doesn't that mean anything to you" I looked at him in the eyes
"I'll do it again if he comes near you" with that he disappeared to his office
I cried
How could he be so difficult
He didn't have time to think how all of this was going to affect me and went on making decisions for me like I was eight years old
"Baby" mom put a hand on my shoulder
"How do you cop up with him mom?" I sobbed and turned around to look at her "how do you do it?"
"He's just trying to protect you baby, he just has an odd ways of handling his things"
"But he's making it worse"
"Baby"
"I have to go" I sniffed "I have to go and get him out" I started rushing to the front door
"No" mom followed me "you can't go out it's too dangerous look at the time honey" she said frustrated
"But he got arrested because of me" I looked at her
"But you can't go think about the baby at least, Nathan won't forgive you if you put the baby in danger...it's the middle of the night you can't go" she pleaded with glossy eyes
I sighed
She was right
It wasn't safe to go out at this hour of the night, it pained me to know that Nathan would spend the night in a cell and I couldn't do anything to get him out
I dropped to the floor sobbing
I felt helpless
Mom put me in her arms and let me cry on her shoulder
I'll get you out first thing tomorrow morning Nathan
I promise
