B/n: Your Older Brother's Name
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Y/n's POVI walked around my kitchen as I listened to B/f/n's complaining over the phone,
"Come on Y/n, just say yes to one of the guys who asked you to prom! Then we can both have dates and the pictures will look more balanced," she begged.
I laughed, "Yeah 'cause making sure our pictures look aesthetically pleasing is my top priority. Look, I just don't feel like going to prom with any of them. They're all super immature and not my type."
"Come on it's just for one night! Plus, you can tell them that you're just going as friends."
"Yeah, but they didn't ask me to prom as 'just friends.' I'm not trying to lead anyone on. Who knows, maybe someone I actually like will ask me to go with them, but otherwise, I'm going to prom without a date."
After we said our goodbyes and hung up, I made my way toward the living room and almost spit out my drink at the sight of C/n, my older brother's best friend, sitting on the couch.
"So you don't have a date for prom," he smirked.
I laughed, "No, you eavesdropper. When did you come over? I didn't know you and B/n were hanging out today."
"I came a while ago but B/n said something came up so I'm just waiting on him," he explained.
I sat down on the couch next to him, "I can keep you company while you wait."
He smiled, "Thanks. So how come you're not going to prom with anyone?"
"Oh, so you didn't hear the whole conversation? You're not a very good eavesdropper," I teased.
"Haha," he said sarcastically.
"I just haven't really found anyone I want to go with."
"Oh. Why don't I take you?"
I raised my eyebrow. I've known C/n for as long as B/n has and even though we stayed in touch after they graduated, I was still surprised to hear that he'd take me to prom.
"Really? Why?" I questioned.
"What? You don't think I'd be a good date?" he replied.
"No, I'm just a bit surprised is all. But thanks, I'd love for you to take me to prom."
"Cool. So, how should I bribe your brother so I don't get killed?"
I laughed in reply.
The day of prom came quickly and B/f/n and I were getting ready at my house. Her date and C/n were hanging out in the living room while they waited for us to finish.
"Damn, we look hot," B/f/n said as we stood in front of the mirror.
I grinned, "Mhm."
We giggled as we finished some final touches before making our way to the living room. Dress shopping was fun but stressful, so I feel satisfied now that I can finally wear the damn dress.
"Wow, you look beautiful Y/n," C/n greeted me with a kiss on my cheek.
I smiled, "Thank you, you look nice too. It's been a while since I've seen you in a tux."
We all walked outside and C/n opened the side door for me before jogging to the driver's side and hopping in. B/f/n and her date were riding in another car so we didn't have to wait as they stood near their car taking a million pictures.
Once we got to the venue we waited for B/f/n while mingling for a bit. When they arrived, we beelined toward the food and made sure to get a table before there were no more seats left.
"Y/n! Let's go dance!" B/f/n squealed as we heard the DJ play our favorite song.
"Haha ok ok!" I exclaimed as I tried not to trip in my heels while B/f/n dragged me by the arm, too impatient to wait for my reply.
We danced hard to the music, joining in with other groups of people we knew. We tried not to get shoved into the middle of any mosh pits, but my feet got all bruised regardless. I envied the girls who were smart enough to bring another pair of more comfortable shoes with them to dance in. Suddenly, the mood shifted as the DJ started playing slower songs.
"Hey," C/n said as he appeared behind me.
"Hey," I replied.
"Wanna dance?"
I looped my arms around his neck and he wrapped his around my waist, "Of course."
We danced for a while, swaying to the music and enjoying each other's presence. I rested my head against his shoulder and smiled as I listened to the romantic music.
"Y/n, you know why I asked you to your prom right?"
I pulled away from his chest a bit so I could make eye contact with him, "No. I asked you but you never answered my question."
"I like you, I have since we were little and I'm glad to see that you're still turning down those 'immature boys,'" he smirked.
"So you were listening to my whole conversation then?" I replied, faking annoyance.
"Maybe. That's all you've got to say to my confession?"
"Sorry eavesdropper, I guess I'm not as good of a listener as you."
"How long are you gonna keep calling me that stupid na-"
I cut C/n off with a kiss on his lips.
"I like you too," I said when I pulled away.
He exhaled an exaggerated breath, "God, you're gonna be the death of me."
I rolled my eyes, "Sure, Romeo."
"No seriously. What am I gonna say when your brother finds out I'm dating his little sister?"
"Ummm, you don't say anything?" I shrugged.
He glared at me, "Wow, great plan. The cleverness really runs in the family."
It was my turn to give a glare as I lightly pushed him on the shoulder, "Well you're the one that surrounds yourself with us 'clever' people, so what does that make you?"
C/n grinned, "Some guy whose only good trait is his ability to eavesdrop."
I laughed before returning to a more stoic tone, "No seriously though. We're not telling my brother."
He groaned, "Now you're making me lie to the poor guy?"
I smiled innocently, "Only if you like me as much as you say you do."
"Fine," he gave in, "but we can't keep it from him for too long."
"Of course!" I agreed. "We'll tell him when we get home tonight."
C/n looked at me with a face of alarm, "Huh?"
