The rain didn't stop for a very long time, Rosalie would know because she sat still watching the silhouette of her mate leave her.

Even after Alina had left Rosalie sat still staring at the spot where she had walked away. A burning continuous pain stilled in her chest and she clasped a hand over her heart.

Rosalie finally cried out and hit the floor. She swore at the sky and smashed her hands down at the ground creating craters.

Her pain felt unbearable, she wanted to rip out her heart and stomp on it. Why did she have to feel this way?

Her sobs continued for hours and tears mixed with rain poured down her face, she wrapped her arms around herself trying to recreate the comfort Alina used to give by embracing her.

"I just can't anymore." Rosalie sobbed. Her pained howls sending animals fleeing away.

Rosalie wanted to hate the brunette but she couldn't, she just couldn't make herself do it. Covering her face in her hands she fell forwards against the ground.

Soon enough Rosalie's cries began to slow before her body just racked with dry sobs as she pushed herself up off of the ground and shakily stood up.

The rain continued to batter against her and gave her no chance to clear her face. Trying to walk a little, her legs shook before she collapsed against a tree and then she slithered down against it accepting defeat against the weather and her heartache.

Ducking her head, Rosalie wailed and let the tears pour out of her.

"IT WAS THE FIRST TIME I WAS HAPPY! FIRST TIME!" Rosalie weakly hit the tree trying to make a dent but just chipped off some bark.

"And even then you still took that away from me." Her voice trailed off and Rosalie's head hung down loosely.

Taking a deep breath Rosalie tried to still her cries and the pain in her heart. But all it did was give her more breathe to cry with.

Rosalie couldn't remember how long she had spent crying against the tree, she had tugged against her hair pulling apart her beautiful tamed golden hair into a mess that fit the situation she was in.

Soon enough the rain had began to loosen up and Rosalie glanced up seeing the clouds move away letting the blue sky light up again.

The sun was beginning to set and a deep pool of pink rose lined the bottom of the horizon.

Gritting her teeth and pulling herself together, Rosalie got up and began slowly making her way back to the house.

Taking each step sent a new wave of pain up through to her heart and thankfully she soon made it outside the front door.

Her mind was still reeling and as she noticed her reflection in the glass pane of the door, Rosalie wondered if Alina had even let one tear out or whether it really was all an act.

Bloodshot eyes, hair a mess, tear streaks, hands trembling, matted hair stuck to her face and a dead look in her eyes.

Puffing out a sigh she pushed open to door and a cloud of cooked meat smell filled her nose.

"Rosalie dear is that you? And you Alina." Esme called out from the kitchen, Rosalie could hear Esme approaching her.

"Is Alina with you? I had to ask her question?" Emmet grinned as he came into view but the smile on his face dropped as soon as he saw Rosalie.

Rosalie was slightly shocked that neither Edward had read her despairing thoughts or that Jasper had felt her pain.

Her thoughts were cut short when Bella and Edward whizzed into her eyesight from the kitchen as well with Renesmee in Bella's arms.

"Sweetie, where's Alina?" Esme spoke as she turned the corner.

After seeing the expression that overcame Rosalie's face at the mention of Alina, Esme opened her arms for her adoptive daughter.

Rosalie sunk into Esme's arm and could hear the soothing words being spoken to her but couldn't  comprehend them.

A wave of relief flushed over her and she looked up to thank Jasper but he just gave her a pitiful smile. She felt guilty because he could feel exactly how she felt and it wasn't good. But Rosalie couldn't care anymore cause this was the only pain free time she could get before the heartache would return.

At some point Esme had moved them to the sofa and Rosalie moved back from her embrace but Esme still held her hand rubbing it gently with her thumb.

Rosalie could feel the eyes of everyone set upon her but looked up to meet Carlisle's. He gave her a soft smile and placed himself gently on the centre table opposite her.

"What happened?" He asked tenderly. "Where's Alina?"

Breathing in deeply and trying to steady herself to talk, Rosalie shifted in her seat before responding.

"She left. She left me to help her brother and she said she's not coming back." Rosalie couldn't hold her tears anymore and she began to weep.

Bella hastily handed Renesmee to Edward and rushed forward kneeling in front of Rosalie. Resting a light hand on the blonde's knee she gave a hopeful smile up to her. Esme released Rosalie's hand wiped away her own tear.

"Rosalie, listen. The mate bond is too strong, she will return." Bella assured Rosalie.

"Yeah and when she does, I'm gonna beat her ass!" Emmet punched his own hand and meanly stared at the wall.

"You're not the only one." Carlisle agreed.

More choruses of yeses and agrees with Emmet's statement grew between the Cullens before Rosalie chuckled half heartedly and wiped away her tears.

Rosalie nodded at Bella who had returned back to her place next to Edward and smiled painfully at the rest of her family.

"I appreciate the gesture but I want the first punch." Rosalie fiddled with her hands in her lap.

"Fuck yeah of course! But I'm holding her down." Emmet grinned.

"I think you may need some help with that." Edward replied. "I'll hold her left and you hold her right?"

Emmet nodded at him and they smiled before glancing back at Rosalie who had the gloomy miserable look back on her face.

Standing up with her wobbly legs Rosalie held onto the sofa before walking over to the stairs. Everyone stared at her expectantly and she rolled her eyes.

"I'm going for a shower, I'm not going combust. Jesus." Rosalie spoke as she began walking upstairs toward her bedroom.

Shoving past the door, she saw the unmade bed and the paused show she was watching on her TV.

Steeling herself, she fixed the bed and turned the TV off. Grabbing her clothes from her wardrobe, Rosalie approached her bathroom.

She stripped and put the shower on the hottest setting, steam erupted around her as she entered the shower.

Rosalie zoned out as she showered and got dressed because the next thing she knew she was stood at her bathroom door staring blankly at the wall.

Seeing the open wardrobe door she went to shut it before noticing Alina's side. Taking out one of Alina's leather jacket, she put her arms through the sleeves and wrapped the way too big jacket round her self.

Grabbing a throw blanket and dragging it with her towards the windowsill, she pulled her legs and knees close to her chest and wrapped herself with the blanket.

The familiar scent of Alina filled her nose and Rosalie covered her mouth to muffle more sobs that burst out from her body.

Crisp apple mixed with a salty ocean scent and a little bit of the musty forest smell. It was all that was needed to make Rosalie cry and miss Alina.
