Alina always thought that she'd be alone, for quite a while that was how it was for her.
Life never seemed to be the answer in Alina's, being a vampire to Alina meant that she couldn't have one thing she so dearly had wanted. Death.
She'd never thought about it properly so when Rosalie asked her, she was speechless.
Alina's mouths couldn't form words, the question Rosalie asked lingered in her mind.
Have you ever wanted to just not exist?
Her answer would have been yes. Everyday till I met you. But she couldn't say that, she shouldn't.
So instead she didn't answer, she just traced a pattern across Rosalie's back and hummed in response.
The blonde didn't pressure an answer like she would have done with anyone else, but Alina was different. Rosalie actually quite deeply cared for her and sometimes it scared her to be able to care about someone this much.
Both vampires were deep in their own thoughts as the sunlight poured through the windows.
"Alina?"
The brunette hummed in response as she nuzzled her face into Rosalie's hair.
"Were you actually gonna leave?" Rosalie whispered.
"Luv. You keep asking me that again and again." Alina was a little flustered, she wasn't used to reassuring herself let alone someone else.
"Oh. I'm sorry, I just keep thinking about how that you were gonna leave and what would happen if you did." Rosalie rushed out.
"I'm not angry, I-I just don't understand why would you still be thinking about that?" Alina sat up turning her head to face Rosalie who was fiddling with her fingers and looking at the floor.
"You just said you were leaving in that moment and you didn't even think about me. It just makes me overthink." Rosalie said the last part very quietly that Alina could barely hear it.
The brunette clenched a jaw and pressed her park against Rosalie's cheek.
"I know. But I apologised for it." Alina paused. "I'm rash and I don't think things through."
"There's another person you have to think about how your actions will affect them now. That's me, Alina."
"I know darling. But I said I'm sorry." Alina creased her eyebrows, she pushed Rosalie's hair back but then frowned when Rosalie moved back.
"Do you even understand or know how I felt when I heard you say you were leaving? Then seconds later you changed your mind, like don't get me wrong I'm very happy you stayed but why say you were leaving in the first place?!" Rosalie raised her voice. Alina swallowed thickly and rubbed her eyes.
"I don't know."
"You don't know?" Rosalie laughed, Alina shockingly glanced up at the blonde who had her head in her hands.
"I'm not used to caring about anyone. It's odd, I care about you so much it terrifies me that someone like you can affect me so much." Alina faltered when her words had no affect on Rosalie but she continued anyway. "I have never had to think about anyone else other than myself who sometimes I wouldn't even bother about. I don't know how to care about other people. I don't know what it's like to be cared about."
"So let me help you then." Rosalie moved forward and took Alina's hands. "I can't help you if you don't want me to."
"I'm sorry. I didn't know me saying I was going to leave would hurt you this much." Alina scrunched her nose.
"Well what did you expect me to do? Nod my head and wave you goodbye?" Rosalie pulled her hands back.
"Uh." Alina scratched her neck.
They spoke at the same time.
"Don't say yes." "Yes?"
Rosalie sighed heavily. She dropped her head into her head and pulled her knees close to her chest.
"Rosalie." Alina spoke gently. When she didn't get a reply she placed a hand on the blondes knee.
"Just leave. Give me some space." She sniffed.
"Oh." Alina had no clue if she should stay or go. Her head told her to leave but her heart said to stay. "You want me to go?"
"Yes." It was quiet for a second. And then a whoosh of wind threw Rosalie's hair up before she heard the door shut.
Their first argument.
