Rosalia's POV:
For a few seconds, I just stare at Selene, dumbfounded by her request. Run? Why would she suggest that? She keeps watching us as if to see whether or not we'll run like she suggested and seems disheartened when we don't move. Run! You need to go now. I keep looking at her, waiting to see if she'll elaborate on her point but she just remains standing there with her eyes fixed on where we still haven't moved.
Why? I ask her, looking through the darkness to see if I can detect where the others have gone. Blackness envelops the room and I struggle to see a foot in front of me, never mind how to get out or find the others. Selene? What happened? What's wrong? I send to her, no longer seeing the need to keep my thoughts to myself since my cover had been blown. Selene? I call out to her again but she still doesn't reply and I feel a slow paralytic fear spread through me, rooting me to the floor. Hello?
I keep wandering around to see if I can find where the others have gone but the blackness is so absolute that I can't see anything in the room. I stand there for a few seconds trapped in the fear until I snap myself out of it. "Ignis," I mumble, seeing a small flame spurt to life in my palms, illuminating the room around me. But I'm alone. Dread sinks like a stone in my chest and I try to locate the others, running into a blank wall each time. "Libertas Ignis," I whisper, seeing the little ball of flame spin around so I can see it's a sprite with intelligent eyes. It flutters off my palm and hovers near me to see if I can discern where the others are in the room in comparison to the blackness still blocking me. "Where are you?" I mumble, my voice is soft enough that I can only just hear it before it's swallowed up by the inky void of blackness surrounding me.
The sprite follows me in my slow circle around the room, flitting ahead often enough that I can see what's ahead and what I've already passed, but it doesn't do much beyond that. Where are you? I think to myself, trying to figure out if I could see anyone but it's as if I was alone in the room. Something that terrified me. Logically I knew I had to be in the room with someone else but I couldn't convince my eyes of that. Not when there was no one there, no matter where I turned. I keep walking in a slow circle until I end up near a door, the shiny onyx coloured knob standing out amongst the sea of surrounding blackness like it was glowing from within. Take it. Something inside me teased, the glow inside the door seeming to intensify until the light that had previously been contained within just the knob spilt out through a rusty keyhole and under the doorway itself to create a small patch of light on the floor. Take it to see where you end up. The voice comes back again but this time sounds different than before. More menacing.
Almost like I've turned on a light inside my mind I register the slow sound of someone breathing behind me and I stiffen in panic. Spinning around I'm left with nothing but the eerie blackness from before and the unrelenting feeling that I'm being watched by someone. Fear threatens to overtake me but I push it back, anger rising in its place. The longer I'm left in this depriving state of darkness the more I slowly start to notice details. A wall here. A pillar there. The outline of a throne in the far corner. And...the door. I turn to face it only to feel my stomach drop when I register what I see in front of me. The door's gone. The light and the door vanishes as if it's been swallowed into that unrelenting wall of inky, murky blackness that's already eaten away at everything else around me.
