"Do you still want to be a teacher when you grow up, Jade?" A fourteen-year-old Calum asked me, rolling over on his side as he spoke.

"No." I whispered. "I want to be a therapist; I want to help people with their problems."

"You know what I want to be?" he asked, rolling on his back again and staring up at the stars. Calum and I were at the beach, dreaming about everything we wanted to do with our lives.

"A famous soccer player, I know." I laughed. "You still never told me about this girl you supposedly have a crush on." I pouted.

"She's really pretty. And she doesn't really know I have a crush on her, mum says she's oblivious to my feelings for her." he chuckled. My heart ached for Calum; he's such a great guy, any girl would be so lucky to have him.

"Why don't you just tell her how you feel?" I asked him, still staring at the stars.

"Because. I know she doesn't feel the same way." he whispered, his voice so low I could hardly hear him.

"When I grow up," I changed the subject, "I want to move to America and live in Los Angeles. And I'm going to get a house on the beach, and go to the beach everyday." I giggled. The thought of living on the beach literally made my knees weak.

"I can become a soccer player in America." Calum grinned. "And I'll live in LA with you."

"Yes!" I said, almost too enthusiastically.

"I'll take you to LA one day, Jade. Even if I don't become a famous soccer player, or you don't buy your house on the beach, I'll take you there." he gave me a wide smile, one that I couldn't help but return.

"I'd like that, Cal."

End of flashback

A whole week passed, and Calum had hardly spoken two words to me. Every time I would ask him when he was going to speak to me again, or when our date was, he would just reply with 'be patient, beautiful,' which would make me blush, but still didn't make up for the fact that I was getting impatient.

I decided not to tell Abby about my recent... occurrences with Calum. Since she had such a big crush on him, I didn't want to hurt her any more than necessary.

It was a Thursday afternoon, and I was walking to Biology class, my last class of the day. I couldn't wait to get it over with so that I could just go home and take a long nap.

But I couldn't say I was hardly surprised when I walked in, finding Calum Hood sitting in my desk, chatting with the people around him like they were old friends.

"I'm sorry, I thought you dropped out of high school?" I gave him a sarcastic smile as I approached him. He shot me a grin and removed his black sunglasses from his eyes.

"Funny, smart ass. Now get your shit, we're leaving."

"Leaving? You can't take me out of this class again, Calum. Besides, where would we even go?" I questioned. The late bell went off, and I was beginning to get nervous. Mr. Smith would be entering any second now, and I didn't want him to arrest Calum or anything.

"Ah, that's for me to know and for you to find out. Now, I already told Dave you're leaving." he shrugged, standing up from my desk, so he was right in front of me.

"Jeez Cal, where are we going?"

"That date I've been telling you about." he whispered huskily in my ear, sending shivers down my spine.

The classroom door was thrown open, and Mr. Smith walked through. Once his eye caught sight of Calum, who was grinning widely at him, he sighed.

"Mr. Hood, Ms. McKingsley, get out of my classroom." he muttered.

"Thanks for letting me borrow my girl, Dave." Calum winked at me. I rolled my eyes, but couldn't help but bite my lip to hide a smile from erupting on my face. Various 'awwws' broke out, mainly from the stupid, lovestruck girls who were all swooning over Calum.

"Let's go, before one of these girls pounces on you." I hissed in his ear. He smirked and took my hand, leading me out of the Biology room.

"I would have to say someone was getting a bit jealous in there." he smirked, sliding his black sunglasses on over his eyes. I scoffed and rolled my eyes again as he swung our interlaced hands back and forth.

"I was not jealous." I glared at him.

"Oh, okay." he said sarcastically, biting his lip to hold back a smile. I found it increasingly hard to concentrate when he did that, but I couldn't seem to tear my eyes away from his perfect face.

His cheek bones, which always seemed to be lifted up, mostly because he was always smiling. His plump, pink lips, his bushy eyebrows, his blonde highlights. His-

"Enjoying the view?" he chuckled, looking down at me. He caught me; hopelessly checking him out.

"You wish." I teased. But damn, I'd been caught.

He laughed, a real, beautiful laugh, and led us the rest of the way out into the parking lot. Once we got there, I spotted his red truck and we made our way over to it, our hands still laced together.

"But seriously, if you don't tell me where we're going, I'm not getting in the car." I pressured him. Who the hell am I kidding, I'm getting in the car no matter what. It's getting colder out here, damn Sydney.

"Yeah right, I've known you since you were in a diaper. You're the most curious person ever; you're getting in the car." he scoffed. We were at his truck now, both of us leaning up against it as we talked.

"Please, Cal?" I asked. I stuck out my bottom lip and gave him the puppy dog eyes, but instead of giving in like I expected him to, he just scoffed.

"Not working on me, Jade, use the puppy dog eyes for someone who hasn't known you your entire life." Calum chuckled, then pulled the passenger door open for me, gesturing for me to get in. I contemplated for a few seconds, just to tick him off, then finally climbed in.

"Tell me where we're going." I crossed my arms over my chest. He laughed at me, but still didn't tell me.

"What would be the fun in that?" he asked. I continued to glare at him, and he sighed. "Fine, jeez woman. Remember when we were fourteen and we were talking about going to LA?" he asked.

My eyes widened. He wouldn't - he couldn't take me all the way to LA, I have school, for one point. He just laughed at my response and shook his head.

"We aren't going to LA." he chuckled. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding.

"Oh, okay. Yeah, I remember that talk. Why?" I asked.

"Well, I can't exactly take us to LA, so I'm doing the next best thing. I've already spoken to your mum, she's cool with you missing school tomorrow if we decide to stay in a hotel-"

"Calum!" I interrupted him. His talk about 'hotels' and 'missing school' was beginning to scare me, even though I know for a fact that Calum would never, ever hurt me.

"We're going up the coast. I'm taking you to the beach."
