The Titan's scream went on, piercing through my hands and flooding my ears no matter how hard I squeezed. The sheer volume of the scream vibrated throughout my body, making me squeeze my eyes tightly shut.
Finally, she stopped, and silence fell upon us. I dropped my hands, looking back up at the source of the scream to find Levi still standing upon her head, seemingly un-phased. We all stood in silence, waiting for something to happen, unsure of the reason for her screaming. Suddenly, it became clear. She was calling for help...
I could hear the same familiar thudding sounds in the far distance, growing in volume. Shooting my ODM gear back up to the same tree as before, I landed next to Erwin. I glanced over to him to read his expression, waiting for an order. His expression remained calm, staring directly at the Titan just like before. Two hooks snapped into the branch near me. Captain Miche swiftly swooped in next to me, looking directly at the Commander.
"They're coming, I can smell them," he said, his eyes burning with urgency.
"From which direction?" Erwin turned towards him, his eyes widened slightly.
"From every direction. Fast. Dozens," Miche replied, clenching his teeth.
The thudding was more apparent now as Titans were racing towards us from all directions. The closest came from the east of us. I grabbed my two hilts and readied my blades. My heart pounded in my chest and I could feel my breathing start to labor. I could start to feel the thudding beneath my feet, which meant any second now, Titans will be here.
"Soldiers! The artillery shot! Faster!" Erwin shouted.
"We won't have time..." I whispered. I felt a bead of sweat trickle down from my ear to my jaw. Blood pounding in my ears.
I looked to the east of us trying to find any sightings of Titans. Rumbling was growing louder with each passing second. In the blink of an eye, a group of Titans were in view, charging directly towards the Female Titan.
I saw three soldiers fly into action, pulling out their blades for combat. The Titans ignored them, running right by the wagon defense team, continuing their path towards the captured Titan. Unusual behavior for Titans to ignore humans when that's their only diet. Levi still stood on her, appearing unaware of the incoming threat.
"Commander! Three Titans have broken through!" a soldier shouted.
I looked back to Levi's direction to see the Titans running towards him at full speed. Without hesitation, he snapped his hook into one of the Titans and flung himself into combat, slicing the napes of the Titans with ease. Just as quickly as he killed the three, we were surrounded. Titans from every direction trapped us within, all aiming for the Female Titan.
"All soldiers, commence combat! Defend the Female Titan at all costs!" Erwin commanded, raising his blade in the air.
I swallowed a big gulp of air, clutching onto my weapons tightly, looking for an opportunity to jump into the fight. Soldiers from all around me flew by with their blades drawn. Blood from slain Titans sprayed into the air, steaming on impact of whatever it landed on. I looked to see Levi killing Titans with incredible speed and ease. I was awe-struck as I watched him fly with the use of his ODM gear, spinning around with his blades, slicing through Titans like butter.
