"It's almost 12 am"

---

Vien had her heart sunk when she followed Levi to his office. It was still half an hour before 4 am yet he was already awake, why was he at hall either way? And why did he have to come at the moment I said that?   She closed the door after

He sat on the chair, crossing his legs over one another and resting both his arms on the arm support

"The tea schedule says I have the right to drink a cup this morning, where is it?" Levi stared at her

Vien replied, "I apologize deeply Sir. I'll go prepare it right now"

She turned to leave but he stopped her, he resumed "Don't you usually remember things? There must've been something that kept you busy considering you forgot about tea"

Vien was about to defend herself when the Captain was already one step ahead of her, Unfortunately

"Ah, I'm a few inches taller than him wasn't it?" Levi scoffed quietly

The Captain spoke in a way that intimidated her. Then he stood up and kept on blabbering things she couldn't focus on, since she was too busy panicking inside when he started walking towards her. Vien was starting to wonder when his physical training would be put to his advantage this time. Oh shit

Vien kept moving backwards until the door was used for support. She gulped slowly when Levi still didn't stop walking towards her when she had nowhere to go. Certainly he was a bit shorter than her but someone like him commanded the deepest respect, and she knew she could be done for if he wanted to

Levi didn't stop staring at her ever since he started walking, and he finally stopped a fair few inches away from her "Well, you can now compare our height from this line of view. Anything amusing to you?"

"Nothing, no sir" She looked away

Levi grabbed her collar and pulled her down to his eye level. He still had the same unreadable, cold expression on his face but she sensed that he wasn't playing at all. His stare pierced into her actual soul and she felt like she was being shown who the real boss here was

"Doctor, are you intimidated?"

Vien stuttered "I-I don't know sir"

"Hm. Judging by how you say sir after everything tells me you are"

Should I tell him the truth? Vien took a sharp inhale of air before blurting out "I'm sorry if what I said came as an offense Captain"

Levi became surprised by Vien's response, but he didn't show it. He let go of her and saw a tear fall off her cheek. "What a sensitive brat, even a cadet of mine could make you cry your heart out" He scoffed, as he walked back to his office desk

Shit, how could I forget about what Erwin told me? Levi remembers

"Don't waste these and make sure to do the paperwork. I'll assist Eld at the grounds" He took out a pack of tissues, and gave it to her before walking out. Levi closed the door

Seconds after Levi left the room, Vien scoffed to herself and wiped her tears angrily. She clenched the pack of tissues in her fists and began cursing herself repeatedly

"What the hell did I say? I must've been mental" She gritted her teeth

I always tell myself to man up for once but I always end up weak and vulnerable around the Captain. I know that he's typically my boss but why's it so hard to put up a front?

Vien counted to calm herself down, and tried to forget everything to focus on her work. She sat on where she'd usually sit and do the pile of paperwork on Levi's desk

---

8:30pm

It's been a few minutes since Levi went back in his office. He didn't talk ever since morning but she assumed he came late because he brought back his new paperwork

Vien spent 3 hours in the morning for the first half of his paperwork, and trained the whole afternoon alone with 3DMG just in case she'd need it for the expedition. And she was dreading having to go back to his office at 8. Thankfully he was 30 minutes late, that's minus 1 and a half hour of hell for me She sighed

"You've had enough tea for today Captain" She calmly said, as he was about to prepare tea in the kitchen

He replied, "Tch. I had extra paperwork to finish this evening"

Vien scanned the desk, and he wasn't lying. There was a new batch of paperwork to do, and Levi was only at the first quarter of it

Without thinking twice, she took another half of work. The Captain glanced at the papers, then to Vien with a look of disbelief "Oi, do you even know what you're doing?"

"I do."

"You're clearly forcing yourself too much, you unbelievable brat"

"You seem talkative today, looks like someone's finally listening"

The Captain glared sternly at her, and annoyingly went back to sit on his chair. Vien finally succeeded in distracting him from making tea and praised herself quietly. He kept watching the paper she wrote on whilst doing his work too. He was too meticulous on his paperwork that he watched her every move to make sure she was doing it right

Half an hour passed without them talking, and the Captain finally seemed to trust her that he focused on his own. 30 minutes without drinking tea too, that's a good start

When Vien had finished more than half of it, it was already pass her bedtime but she decided to finish it in one night. She constantly checked the time in order to track the hours without his black tea

2 and a half hours without tea, and the Captain doesn't seem to be complaining. He should feel sleepy by now Vien looked up to him but he was still writing on the paper

"It's almost 12 am. I'll take the rest so you should leave now" He spoke

"You are surely going to make tea when I leave. So I'm leaving once this is done, and when you actually fall asleep" Vien faked a smile

The Captain glared at her for her gesture, then rolled his eyes "Tch, stay as long as you want. You'll be the first to fall asleep and wake up outside the walls. It's your choice"

"Wonderful" Vien replied without looking, she was focusing more on finishing the paperwork with silence to make sure he fell asleep

The next long 30 mins was when she finally finished all her work, and it was still full of silence. Vien checked on the Captain who fell asleep soundly on his office chair

Vien combined all the paperwork they did, and organized it on his desk. She dusted the shelves a little, before going to leave. She smiled at Levi "Hope you sleep well Captain"

She closed the door behind her and skipped happily to her quarters

When the office door was already closed, Levi opened his eyes slowly and she wasn't there. He stopped pretending and scanned his whole desk. His 2-day worth paperwork was finished in a few hours, Maybe her support isn't so bad after all

Levi averted his attention to his tea preparation tray, and it was still there. He was about to prepare one, until he remembered hearing her clean his shelves. Breaking her trust would be unfair for all the effort she's put in Levi thought

He hesitated for a while and tried to fall asleep instead. Vien was a doctor and even though it bothered him, he wanted to trust the process
