I jolted awake my heart beating rapidly in my chest as images of the nightmare floated through my head. The dream had consisted on being told to run and that was all I could remember. I recalled an overwhelming fear but I couldn't figure out what had sent so much terror through me. Much like the other dreams I had had throughout my life.
I shook the dream off as I focused back on the stars shimmering on the ceiling above me for a few minutes while my heart rate came back to a normal speed before I got up. When I stepped out of the room I realized the lights had been dimmed so everyone must be sleeping. I continued through the halls but was careful to make as little noise as possible. I reached the control room finding the Doctor fiddling with some wires underneath. I walked over to her crouching down causing her to jump.
"What are you doing up?" She asked her hazel eyes focusing on me our earlier argument almost completely forgotten in seconds.
"Woke up, wasn't tired," I stated as she turned back to the wires.
"What are you doing up?" I asked confused why she was up. She laughed.
"I don't need much sleep, timelady remember," she said simply. We fell into a comfortable silence where she worked and I watched. Once she finished she gave me her full attention. "So you want to explain what woke you?"
"It was a nightmare that's all," I said as she frowned. "I get nightmares a lot and most of the time I can't really remember them. I remember the feelings I had but not the circumstances around those feelings. It's rather annoying."
"How often do you get nightmares like that?" She asked as I shrugged.
"Every few days, I'm used to it," I told her minimizing how bad it actually made me feel. I didn't like feeling weak and I hated the fear that came with each horrid nightmare I couldn't even remember.
"You really don't remember what it was about?" The Doctor asked as I shook my head.
"Even the therapist the foster care system gave me couldn't figure it out," I said as pity flashed in the Doctor's eyes. "I'm fine Doc really."
"Well if you are ever not fine we can talk. I'm a great listener," she smiled softly at me. I returned the smile before I got up off the floor. I hated discussing my feelings and was quick to change the subject.
"So what's the plan today?" I asked her. She smirked walking over to the controls.
"Where would you like to go?" She asked me.
"Um, somewhere pretty," I said unsure of anything specific I wanted to see. The Doctor paused before a grin spread across her lips.
"I know just the place," she flipped a few levers causing the Tardis to shake slightly. When we landed the Doctor raced to the doors stepping outside. I laughed before I followed her out of the dark Tardis and into the blinding sun. I squinted until my eyes adjusted to see I was standing near the bottom of a waterfall.
"Whoa," I breathed looking around at the water.
"Beautiful isn't it, love nature," she said looking at my awestruck face.
"Where are we?" I asked her as I looked at the leaves in the trees which were black, a stark contrast to the white wood of the trees. I'd never seen anything like this before.
"Planet 205," she said as I walked towards the water. I reached out letting the surprisingly warm water rush across my palm. The longer I stood there the more relaxed I felt. I kicked my boots off dipping my toes into the water.
"Well, I like it," I said as she smirked sitting down next to me.
"Whoa," Ryan's voice broke through the silence causing the Doctor and I to turn towards the rest of the group who were all piling out of the Tardis.
