I walked through the doors of my apartment and threw my bag on the floor before collapsing on my couch. Work had being killing me lately, running around all day in the busy streets of New York, just so I could get a better position at my job, was not my favorite thing in the world. I grabbed the tv remote and pressed the "On/Off" button to turn the TV on. The news were on, so I went on my phone and from time to time glanced at the TV.
"Breaking News! A now 21 year old from California wakes up after being in a coma for 5 years, more details tonight at 9," I heard the news reporter say but didn't really pay attention to it. I suddenly got a text from a special someone and immediately smiled.
"From: Jesse💗
Hey babe, i'm working late tonight, is it okay if we cancel plans and just watch movies and chill tonight?" I smiled and quickly replied:
"To: Jesse💗
Of course, i'm really tired anyways, see you tonight, love you😋" I hit send and got off the couch, hopefully we had some left overs or ice cream in our fridge. I pulled the fridge open and we had an old tray of take-out Chinese food, not good. I pulled the freezer open and there was a pint of my favorite Talenti gelato, along with a note that read: "Enjoy gorgeous:)" and I immediately smiled. God, I had the best boyfriend in the world. I grabbed it along with a spoon and laid back down on our couch, going on Netflix and watching my favorite movie ever, The Titanic."Babe... Lily baby... Wake up.." I felt someone gently shaking me. I opened my eyes and I was greeted by a pair of gorgeous green eyes staring down at me.
"Hi," I smiled and rubbed my eyes.
"I'm sorry i'm home so late, I was trying to leave work earlier but they wouldn't let me, I promise i'll make it up to you," Jesse apologized and I smiled.
"It's okay baby, don't worry about it," I sat up and checked the time, it was 8:55.
"Alright i'm gonna shower real quick okay?" He bent down and kissed my cheek.
"Thank you for the ice cream," I smiled at him and he laughed.
"Anything for you babe," he winked before walking inside our bedroom. I looked around and grabbed the remote, turning the tv back on. The news were on again and I put the remote down and checked my phone.
"Breaking News from California, a now 21 year old wakes up after 5 years of being in a coma, Sasha has more information on the shocking event," the news reporter said and I looked up.
"Yes Mara, a true blessing happened today for a lucky family in California, whose son fell under a coma after being in a terrible car accident, and today, exactly five years from the night of the accident, he has finally awaken, we were able to interview the boy's parents and his friends earlier today," the reporter said and I stared at the tv.
"So tell me Mr.Gilinsky, how does it feel like to finally have your son back?" The reporter asked and I recognized the person on the screen. I quickly grabbed the remote to change the channel but I heard Jesse yell "WAIT!" He ran into the room with only boxers on and sat down.
"I heard about this at work earlier," he said and stared at the tv.
"We are so glad to have him back, it's being a rough five years for us and his friends," David said and I swear I stopped breathing.
"How is he?" Sasha asked David.
"I mean, he's totally fine, it's like if nothing had ever happened, he's completely healthy, just super confused, but I mean who wouldn't be, I mean, he missed out on a lot," David said.
"So, how does it feel to finally have your friend back?" JJ appeared on the screen and I felt like the air was slowly being sucked out of me.
"He's not my friend, he's like my brother, when David called me to tell me the news, I honestly cried, like we had being waiting five years, five years, to have him back," JJ said and my eyes burned with tears.
"And how is he doing?" Sasha asked.
"He's healthy, but he's very heartbroken," JJ said and I felt the tears slowly roll down my cheeks.
"Heartbroken?" She asked.
"Yeah, him and his girlfriend had a fight that night, and after the accident, no one ever saw her again," JJ said and I accidentally let out a sob. Jesse looked over at me and his eyes grew big.
"Woah baby are you okay?" He asked me and I wiped my eyes.
"Haha yeah, it's just such a sad story," I laughed.
"What do you mean never saw her?" Sasha asked.
"Well, she called 911 to get an ambulance, but when the paramedics got to the scene, they only found Jack's body, no one knows what happened to her," JJ frowned.
"What was her name?" She asked.
"Turn it off," I grabbed the remote.
"Wha-"
"TURN IT OFF!" I cried.
"Lily, Lily Roberts," JJ said and Jesse's jaw dropped and I froze.
"Wait.... What the fuck.... Did he just say your name?" Jesse asked me and I couldn't even speak. They showed a picture of Jack and I at our Junior year homecoming and Jesse stood up.
"Lily... what THE HELL IS GOING ON?!" Jesse yelled and I just stared at the TV.
"Lily, Lily answer me!" Jesse yelled. Next thing I saw was a picture of Jack in a hospital bed and my heart completely broke, I felt like I couldn't breathe, my head began spinning, and before I knew it, everything went blank all over again.
