Gido didn't show up for Killua's match, so that meant the ex-assassin won by default. Today, on June 10th, I would watch Gon fight Riehlvelt and see how he could he able to defeat him. He didn't have his fishing rod with him, so he was left empty-handed. I had been resting for five days since my match with Riehlvelt, and the pain seemed to be going away from everywhere. I watched him stretch as he got himself ready to fight.
"Begin!"
Riehlvelt started off with his Song of Defense. That was the part I needed to get through if I wanted to win. Gon got down and started...squatting? I was confused for a second until he picked up a huge tile off the floor, completely shocking the audience. He threw it at Riehlvelt, but he used Aura Burst to escape. My eyes followed Gon as he quickly moved ahead and jumped on the wheelchair. I observed him as he put a stop to its movement, with a goofy smile on his face. It made me smile, too, at his tactics. He grabbed his wrists and squeezed them so hard that they broke, and he let out a painful scream, dropping his whips.
He eventually grabbed the whips and aimed them at him, and the snake heads bit him. I was clearly impressed with his skills, and amused by the innocent look on his face.
"Hmm...is this the switch?" He looked at the handle curiously. "Let's see. I'll just turn it up to the max."
"No! Stop!" Riehlvelt begged for him not to use his own weapon against him.
"Switch it..."
"Stop!"
"ON!"
I waited for the electricity to take effect, but it seemed that nothing happened. Riehlvelt passed out from fear, making Gon the winner.
"Just kidding!" He stuck out his tongue playfully, making me giggle and cheer. Everyone cheered for his victory. We all gave him thumbs-ups and cheerful smiles as he walked out of the arena with that energetic smile of his.
Wing informed me that I could continue training. My injuries were healing, and I didn't feel much pain anymore. I went to his house with the others at night, and I was happy that I finally got to try something new.
"Today, we're going to begin learning Hatsu." Wing pointed to the character on the board. "Once you master Hatsu, you will have learned all the basics of Nen. At that point, you will need to start developing your own Nen ability."
"Osu!" We all nodded.
"Hatsu is the technique to control your aura. It is culmination of Nen of which there are six different categories." He explained. "Enhancers are able to strengthen and reinforce objects. Emitters can propel their own aura. Transmuters can change the quality of their aura. Conjurers can materialize objects out of their own aura. Manipulators can use their aura to control objects and creatures. And Specialists are those with a unique and distinct aura that doesn't fall within the other five categories. The key is to find an ability that best suits you."
"An ability that 'best suits you?'"I repeated, tilting my head in confusion.
"Nen is linked to an individual ability with two areas of particular prominence. One would be your natural potential, and the other is the ability you've refined later in life. For example, Gon was born with a flexible, springy body. His acute senses were a product of a childhood spent in nature."
I knew it right from the start. He had spent way too much time in nature than I did. No wonder he had developed those superhuman senses of his. Man, I was really jealous of him...
"From the moment of birth, your Nen aura falls within one of the six categories. It's rare, but it's possible for your Nen aura to change types later on. If you attempt to learn an ability that does not fit your natural category, you will have a hard time." He began drawing on the board as he explained more about the different Nen types.
