Chapter 5 - who killed Daisy

                                    

                                          
As soon as we saw the body we had to call the police.
But there was no signal.
So instead we decided to say our alibis.
                          
We were in the living room.
Chloe was crying in Liams arms.
"I can't believe this is happening" said Chloe while sobbing.
Liam kissed her hair 
"Where was everyone when it happened?" Asked Liam
After Liam asked that question we all got in front of everyone and said our alibis.
                          
Jake: "I was in the living room the whole time reading a book. I was nowhere near the upstairs bathroom where... Daisy is"
                          
Daniel: "I was in the kitchen. Even tho this is supposed to be a dinner party, there was no food. So I was hungry"
                          
Ashlynn: "I was in the master bedroom on the third floor looking for clues on who the host is. But I found nothing. So I went downstairs to have some food with Daniel"
                          
Chloe: "I was in the guest room with Liam. Until he randomly left to do something..."
                          
We all turned to Liam.
Liam looked stunned.
                          
"There's a killer here in this house with us who killed my bets friend Liam can you blame me?!"
                          
Liam was quiet 
He then went up to say his alibi
                          
Liam: "so. Yes I left randomly because I felt my phone vibrate turns out my phone still had some data on it (I used it all up) I wanted to check it in private outside the room incase it was my dad or something"
                          
Liams dad wasn't the kindest person.
He was strict ever since Liams mum died.
                          
I could see Chloe felt horribly 
But right now it was my turn.
                          
Me: "I was in the guest room across from Liam and Chloe. I was thinking about who the host is while eating a granola bar I got from the kitchen earlier"
                          
"We all want to know who's this host person is. Maybe the diary has the answer" suggested Jake
Everyone else decided to scatter across the room while me and Jake looked through the diary. After we read the one page about Liam being a bully and Daisy being a secret girlfriend we totally forgot about the other pages.
We then came across one page that shocked us both.
                          
Dear diary Friday August 22nd 2016
Before going out to celebrate a day before graduation by myself I discovered papers in my parents bedroom.
Adoption papers.
I'm adopted I can't believe it I'm adopted. My real name is Arthur #####
(The last name is crossed out) I don't have time to worry about this I want to go out and have fun before graduation. Maybe the lake could be a good place to relax.
                          
Reading that made me feel horrible.
He died on the day he found out he's adopted, he died before he could find he's birth parents. All because of us.
                          
Jake put his arm around me. I started to blush. "Hey, I know you feel terrible. I know I do" he was right. We should both feel terrible. "But there's more" more? What else could there be? That was the day he died. But I was wrong. 
November 1st the page was ripped out.
                          
We immediately showed everyone else.
"Maybe he just wrote on the wrong date?" Said Chloe. 
"Possibly. But he wasn't that stupid" said Jake
We couldn't figure this out.
Why was the page ripped out?
Why were we invited to this creep vest?
"Still doesn't explain the host tho" commented Daniel
"It's obvious isn't it?" Said Jake
We all turned to him.
"Cmon. We've searched every nook and cranny in this place. There's no sign of this "host" so there's only one explanation"
"One of us is the host. And one of us killed Daisy" 
We were all silent.
Why would we kill our best friend who we've known for years?
Even if that was the case
We need to know each other's motives.
                          
Jake: "I have no reason to kill Daisy. She was my best friend. And she always helped with my science passion"
                          
Daniel: "Daisy two timed me with the person we accidentally killed. I know we weren't together anymore but my blood still boiled when I figured out she used me"
                          
Ashlynn: "Daisy once told me that becoming a rockstar would be difficult and if I didn't achieve that goal I would gain nothing in life. Because of that it broke my confidence. And she was right everyone would choose others over me and I didn't get my dream. So now I have to be a teacher teaching kids how to play instruments and sing in choir probably because I was never confident and I never believed in myself because of Daisy"
                          
Chloe: "I was once beating up a boy for bullying my little sister but Daisy told me not to. So I listened that time. A few weeks later my sister committed suicide because of the bullying. She's alive but she was in hospital for months. If I just showed that boy who's boss one more time maybe he would've backed off"
                          
Liam: "Me and Daisy has been best friends for years. I would never kill her or anyone."
                          
Now it was my turn.
                          
Me: "Like Liam and Jake I wouldn't want to kill-"
                          
"Liar!" Jake cut me off
We all turned to him
"I heard you both talk about your ex. I was on the same floor remember? I heard when you told her that your boyfriend Dave left you for another girl! You probably regretted telling her and killed her!"
I can't believe it. He threw me under the bus like. And I thought that moment we were looking through the diary we were connecting.
"Ok yes! I told Daisy and my boyfriend left me! You happy now jake!?" I turned to Jake I could tell he started to regret "and for the record I would never kill anyone especially the person who helped me out with everything!"
I could feel tears in my eyes.
I missed Daisy so much.
"I believe you" said Chloe 
I turned to Chloe
"We've known blaire for years she would kill or harm anyone. She and Daisy were very close to so I doubt blaire would kill her"
I was so relieved that someone believed in me now that Daisy is gone.
                          
Being trapped here is like a nightmare. My best friend is dead. And who knows who's next. But one things for certain. I need to figure out who's behind all this and who killed my best friend.
