Chapter 25: Him (Venus's POV)
I was sitting up in my room, it was around nine. My parents and grandparents ended up going out for dinner with a family, I don't remember the name. But apparently, the couple is close to my parents and their parents are also close to my grandparents. Whatever, it's irrelevant.
So, I kind of did something. I kind of lied and said I would be heading out to Remy's so they should drop Clarissa at a friend's. And they did.
And now I'm trying to find the courage to call Caden over. Because I've come to realize that I'm the biggest idiot alive. And I walked right into this trap. And now I like him more than I planned to. I admit I like him. And I realize that when he or anyone else realizes that, I will lose him. And that's inevitable because if no one else finds out, he will. And then he'll leave. I know that because he doesn't like me. Even though his words today confused me, I don't think he likes me, I think he was just looking at possible outcomes of our situation.
Anyhow, now that I know I will lose him one way or another, I'm eager to move forward. Because what if he realizes that I like him before we sleep together?
Then I can never say that I had Caden Locke. I can never say that he was mine in any possible way. And now because of that, I want him in every possible way. Right now. I grabbed my phone and dialed the number which I've memorized.
He answered on the third ring. "Hello?"
"Are you free?" I asked.
"Why? Are you missing me?" he chuckled.
"Yeah, actually," I blurted out. Closing my eyes and leaning my head back, regretting it immediately.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm actually home alone."
"How come?"
"Clarissa is at a friend's and my parents and grandparents are out for dinner. They'll be out late tonight."
"Do you want me to come?"
"Do you want to come? We already hung out during the day, so you don't have to. I actually called to ask if you would be coming tonight. Otherwise, maybe I'll call Remy over," I lied, wrapping the cord around my finger, my heart pounding.
"No, don't call Remy," he said quickly.
I smiled to myself.
"Um, I mean, yeah. I'm coming. Give me fifteen minutes?"
"Sure," I replied.
"See you in a bit."
"Bye," I said, grinning to myself like an idiot.
"Bye," he responded.
I hung up and then got out of bed, turning on the AC, suddenly getting very hot. I went into the bathroom and re-tied my hair into a high ponytail. I killed time until he got here by reading Pride and Prejudice, finishing it up. I put it on my nightstand when I heard the knock on my window.
I let him in and then closed the window behind him. "Hi," I chuckled, spinning around to face him.
"Hi," he mumbled, leaning down and kissing me immediately. He pulled away, grinning down at me.
"Whoa, hello," I mumbled.
He chuckled, pulling me closer. "Tell me, Venus. Did you miss me?"
"What do you think?" I asked.
"I think, Venus..."
"What do you think, Caden?"
"I think..."
