I collapsed onto my hotel bed and immediately felt my eyelids droop. Traveling always would get me low on energy because of all the commotion I caused, and the running I had to do sometimes to escape it. Well, I didn't mind meeting fans, it was just, the Colonel liked me to get from here to there as promptly as possible.
I wondered what it was like to travel like a normal person and not have everyone recognize you. I guess I would never know.
"Don't fall asleep, Elvis. We still have things to do tonight."
I blew air out of my mouth and rubbed my eyes. "I wasn't fallin' alseep."
"Uh-huh. Come on, up, up. We have to be downstairs in ten minutes, and it's going to take longer than that to get down there since people will be stopping us."
I loved being famous, but when I was dog-tired, I would rather not be. I just wanted to sleep. Sleeping pills were tempting, but that was out of the question, knowing what I knew. Maybe another manager wouldn't work me so hard? I couldn't drop that bomb on the Colonel, not during Thanksgiving. We had that family party tomorrow.
I got up and the Colonel and I walked out into the hallway. A cleaning lady was in the hall. She looked a little like that last one I met in that ballroom, the incredible singer. I smiled, remembering that experience. She sang for me, we sang together, and... she told me that I was in love with Katelyn. I wasn't doubting it, after what we had been through, and the way she made my mind and body react. That plane flight confirmed my feelings further.
Elena was a pretty girl, but I couldn't stop looking at Katelyn when I had the chance to look at her. The Colonel placed us apart on purpose. It didn't make any sense, if he somehow placed Elena there, though. He didn't want me to be with a normal girl, but Elena was a model and had an agency. She was famous, too. Maybe the whole thing was planned after all. It was no matter, though. I wouldn't see her again.
As expected, people stopped us, and I gave hugs and autographs. One brunette around twenty said to me, "I just love the new nickname you two have."
A bit confused, I asked her, "Nickname?
"Yes. I just heard it literally five minutes ago from a gal who's at the press conference downstairs. Miss Brier told the press. I think the name is really cute."
"I haven't heard it yet. What is it?"
"Elvyn."
My brows rose. "Elvyn?"
"Yeah, it's the perfect combination of both of your names. I think people will call you two by that name for the rest of time."
I thought about that for a moment. Katelyn and Elvis combined to make Elvyn? Clever.
"What will that girl think of next?" the Colonel complained, slight irritation in his voice. "She nor her managers said a thing."
"I like it."
We left my fans. "Sure, you do. Let's just get down there and settle this. I'm not going to have you and that girl have a silly couple's name."
He was such a square. Why couldn't this have been thought of before?

I didn't mean to have that name slip out. I came up with it near the end of the flight. People in my time created combination names for people they shipped all the time, I just thought that Elvis and I could have a name. I first tried Katelis and Kalvis, but I wasn't thrilled with those. Elvyn came to mind. I was going to keep it to myself until I accidentally said Elvyn instead of Elvis when a random reporter asked me a question. I had no choice but to explain myself. The name caught on like wildfire. Elvis had probably heard it already.
