"What happens now..?" Draco asked as he and Harry stood hand in hand beside Ron and Hermione.

Harry looked at the all-powerful wand in his hand that once belonged to Dumbledore, and tightened his grip on it as he shrugged, not having an answer for Draco.

"I don't know.. I didn't really expect to make it this far.." Harry whispered, and he felt Draco stiffen for a few moments, holding his hand tighter.

They stood in silence, looking over at the shadow of Hogwarts, a place they once called home, now lost in ruins.

"What are you going to do with that?" Hermione asked, pointing to the wand, and Harry shrugged again.

"I was thinking.. this should have killed me. Both times. But it didn't, and the only possible explanation for this is that the wand never belonged to Voldemort in the first place." Harry said, looking at the elder wand and sighing.

"Then who's is it?" Ron asked, looking at Harry questionably.

"Draco's." He said, and Draco looked at him in shock.

"Wha-" he started but Harry interrupted him.

"It makes sense. You disarmed Dumbledore, not.. Severus." Harry explained. "But then I disarmed you, and a wand this powerful can't kill it's own master." He said, and they all fell silent for a few moments.

"It's ours, if you think of it. I disarmed you from your own wand, not this one, so it couldn't have fully turned it's loyalty to me." Harry continued, tapping Draco's wand that rested in his own pocket, and the Slytherin looked at him in confusion.

"So the elder wand has two masters?" Hermione asked, and Harry nodded. "But.. how?"

"Not really sure, but I do know that when I hold it, it doesn't feel fully mine, but not in some unsettling kind of way, it's actually nice. I feel it's power drifting between me and Draco, like an invisible string." Harry said, fiddling with the wand in his hand, before snapping it in half and throwing it to the ground.

Draco, Hermione, and Ron all looked at Harry in complete shock.

"It has too much power for any wizard to weild it, no matter their intentions. It's the right thing to do." Harry said in a lower voice, and silence fell over them once more.

They went back inside the destroyed castle after a while, helping everyone try to clean what they could of the mess, and Harry winced at every body he saw, surrounded by grieving family and friends.

He felt responsible for that, their blood was on his hands, and it felt heavy on his shoulders.

That added up to a feeling of emptiness, because what was he supposed to do now? His entire life had build up to this day, and now that it was over, he couldn't see path ahead.

Because how could he move past this? How could he go on with his life after seeing the end of so many others'?

Draco intertwined their fingers and squeezed his hand, bringing it to his lips and kissing it.

"You're overthinking.. don't do that to yourself..." Draco whispered tenderly, and Harry blinked at him.

"H-How did you.."

"I know you, Harry. You're blaming yourself, and none of this is your fault.." he said, caressing his cheek, and Harry shuddered, looking down and blinking away tears.

He didn't reply, he didn't know what to say.

All he knew was that if he had tried hard enough, all this could've been prevented, and not even Draco would convince him otherwise.

Harry didn't let go of the other boy's hand as he made his way to where laid the body of Remus Lupin, and he covered his mouth to muffle a sob.

He never got to know the man all that well, but that didn't make him any less family to Harry. And seeing him there, motionless, his face pale and eyes deprived of the softeness and kindness they once held, made Harry sink to his knees and cry.

Cry for Remus, for Fred, for Snape, for Dumbledore, for Narcissa, for his parents, and for every single life lost because of him.

And, for a few dark moments, he wished he had gone with them.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Breaking the news to Draco about Snape's death had been one of the hardest things he had to do, and watching the boy struggle to stay strong for the Gryffindor, not wanting to add his own grief to the pile of the burden on Harry's shoulders, was heartbreaking to say the least.

Harder than that was watching Sirius barge in through the doors of the Great Hall, frantically looking around trying to find his family, and seeing the way his face fell as he saw the unmistakable body of the man he loved.

He ran so fast to Remus' side, and Harry heard his sob ring inside his ears even minutes after it left his godfather's mouth.

He wanted to go there, comfort the man, but he couldn't move. He could only watch as Sirius scooped Remus' lifeless body in his arms and begged him to stay, to live for him, for Harry.

And Harry couldn't cry anymore. There were just no tears left, and he felt empty. If it hadn't been for Draco's hand never leaving his own, holding his pieces together, he would've completely shattered already.

"I-I saw them..." Harry croaked out, and Draco looked at him in confusion, squeezing his hand to encourage him to continue.

"M-My mom, dad... Remus, Fred, Dumbledore, Snape.. your mom.." he whispered, and he could hear Draco sniffling and fighting tears. "I saw them, right before I-" he stopped himself, not being able to say it, and Draco pulled him into a hug.

He felt his shirt dampening where the Slytherin's face had buried itself in, but he didn't care. He just wrapped his arms around the boy and let him cry, trying his best to comfort yet another victim of the unfair war.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Weasleys went back to the Burrow when everything settled down a little bit, bringing Hermione with them since she had yet to figure out a way to give her parents their memory back.

Harry took Draco to Grimmauld place, where they stayed with Sirius, and the air was tense and heavy around them, each grieving their own losses.

Sirius pulled Harry into a hug after long moments of silence, and Harry didn't hesitate to hug back, while Draco sat on the couch, blanket wrapped around his shoulders, letting the two have their moment.

"I'm sorry.." Harry mumbled, and Sirius shook his head.

"It's not your fault, cub... I'm just glad you're alive, I couldn't bear to lose you too.." Sirius whispered and kissed the top of Harry's head, rubbing his back.
