"Hey Ry, can you come to sit with me? I think we need to talk about a few things."
As if I hadn't heard that sentence a couple of times in my life, this one scared me the most. Those words are never a good thing and usually, it ends with breakups. In that quick second, before I moved my legs, I went through everything that has happened these last few days and nothing came to mind as to why a breakup would be about to happen. "Sure." The simple word came out sad but I knew everything was okay. Sitting down on the side of the bed that I had taken as my side now, I noticed she hadn't made the bed this morning.
"Sorry, that sounded bad. Erin and I were talking while out shopping today and I asked her about what she'd like for Christmas from us, and she said that she just wanted to spend some time with all of the family together. So we came up with the idea to rent a big enough house for a week from Christmas night to New Year's Day. What do you think about it? Emma already messaged me saying all three of them can make it. She and Will would love to have a week with us all. We called your parents today and they are definitely on board. So that just leaves us." After hearing her words I breathed out, not realizing that I had been holding my breath.
Now understanding what she said was a different story. I hadn't exactly thought about anything of asking her to marry me. How or where I would do it, so having everyone, sadly except her parents, around would be great. I could talk with Emma and Erin about how to propose to Sienna.
"I'd love to. Have you found a place?" I ask, noticing that was what she had been looking at her laptop for. She had a couple of tabs pulled up, as I also had soft music coming from the speakers. Immediately I recognized it as Scotty McCreery's song This Is It. How fitting for how I was feeling these days.
"A few but I'm undecided. Erin and I have been sending pages back and forth but neither of us really know what we like or if everyone else would like it too." She took me through the pages she had showing me a couple. There was one that I liked, the photo showed it being completely sheltered by snow-covered trees. The large windows at the front of the house made it easy to see the wrap-around porch and views that this house offered. Even better it had just enough bedrooms for all of us, and I had seen in the messages displaying on the phone screen sitting on her leg, that Erin was liking this one as well. It was only an hour and a half drive from where we were and it was available for the days we needed. Now that I look at it though, all the houses were because Sienna had filtered that into the search engine. Smart woman, 'cause I'd have never thought of it.
Before she could show me any more pages, I told her that I liked this one. She had sent that message to Erin, receiving a phone call from her after. She answered it, swiftly picking up the conversation from their messages. When the discussion came to paying, I interrupted them. They might have come up with the idea of renting a house but I was the one with bigger plans and knew that no matter the price, it was happening.
"Ryan said not to worry about it, he's got it under control." I could practically hear Erin rolling her eyes at that but I knew once I talked to her this weekend she'd understand everything.
The next morning I got a message from Sienna asking if I could pick up Eleanor from school, saying that her she wasn't able to because the emergency room was slow with wanting to help out causing her to be late. I knew that she was going to see about getting something done about the migraine she couldn't get to go away so they must have been keeping her until they got that under control. She had told me once that when she got a migraine they were the worst thing to her. Causing her to get sick and not even want to see any light. I let her know I could, seeing that my afternoon was empty with no plans. My morning wasn't so lucky as I had to be back at Penske at seven to go over shirt and hat designs before signing a couple for a Twitter giveaway. Then it was a meeting with sponsors at nine. Once that was done, it was smooth sailing.
