Y/n's Pov
I made my way over to my child development class, it had looked like the easiest elective, so i signed up for it. I sat in my seat which thankfully was next to Julie Gaffney's seat.
"Good afternoon class." Our teacher greeted us once the bell rang.
She pulled out a hat from under her desk and made only half of the class grab a small paper from inside.
She told us not to open the papers until after she passed out the worksheets.
"Your new project is the Baby Project-" She was cut off by the class groaning.
"It'll be fun trust me, you and the person's name, that is in only some of your guy's notes will have to take care of a fake baby for 4 days, everything will be provided just try not to ruin my materials thank you."
"Oh and one last thing it's worth about 50 percent of your grade." She walked around handing the other half of the class a diaper bag and a baby.
Julie opened her note and immediately groaned.
"Goldberg." She read out loud to me. I stifled a laugh, failing and laughing in her face.
"Knowing him, I'm gonna have to do all the work." She sighed.
"Who did you get?" Julie tried looking at my paper.
"Adam." She groaned.
"Can we trade?"
"No way!" I stood up from my seat and sat in the empty seat next to Adam's.
"Banksie!" I smiled at him.
"Y/n! Thank god, I thought I was gonna get a stranger."
"At least we didn't get Goldberg." We turned our heads and gave Julie a sympathetic smile.
We started to fill out the worksheets, putting in the information we needed.
"What should we name it?" I asked him.
"We should name him Adam Jr." He threw a goofy smile at me.
"No way, how about (baby name)." I suggested
"I like it, but mine was way better."
-
I walked over to my usual seat next to Adam in the cafeteria, food tray in my hands. He had offered to carry the 'baby' until it was lunch time. I heard it crying, but Adam made no effort to calm him down.
"Staring at it won't make him stop crying." I started getting irritated.
He dramatically sighed and pulled out a fake bottle from the diaper bag and fed the 'baby'.
"I'll have the first two nights, then you can have the other two" He suggested.
I nodded my head and turned to ask Julie and Connie if they wanted to go to the mall since I was now free.
-
I was walking aside Adam after school, telling him what to do, since he's never cared for a real baby before.
"If it starts crying and you just fed it, check the diaper, and after you feed it you have to make it burp oh and please don't keep him up late, babies need a lot of rest."
"Okay okay, I get it, you can go now." He pushed me softly forward. He grabbed the 'baby's' hand and made it wave a goodbye at me.
I softly smiled and jokingly rolled my eyes and catched up with Connie and Julie.
-
We stepped out of a clothing store giggling at the failed attempt of a worker hitting on Connie with our shopping bags on our arms.
I was just about to step into another store when I bumped into someone.
"Oh I'm so sor-" I cut myself off.
"Adam?! What are you doing here you're supposed to be watching the baby?!" I was confused.
"I am, he's right here." He opened his shopping bag.
"Oh no." He mumbled.
"Erm, nevermind." He corrected himself.
"How did you lose it!?" I panicked.
"I didn't lose him, he disappeared."
"So he came alive and walked away?" Julie asked him sarcastically.
"Exactly." He smiled at us.
"You guys go on ahead, I have to help him find it." I sighed dramatically.
Adam and I retraced his steps and went into every single store he was in, until we finally found the 'baby' crying in a dressing room.
"We're so gonna fail."
-
"You guys look like crap." Charlie said once he sat down across from us at the lunch table.
It was finally the last day with the baby and everytime it would cry in the night, Adam called me to ask what to do until it was my turn with him.
"I haven't slept in three days." I rubbed my eyes.
"I finally slept peacefully yesterday." Adam gloated, but stopped when I gave him a death stare and went back to feeding the 'baby'.
"Wanna go for pizza after school? My treat for keeping you up on my days." He asked.
I nodded my head, saying yes and grabbed the 'baby' out of his hands and started going to my next class.
-
I made sure to feed, change and let the baby rest before meeting up with Adam after school. It was thankful today would be the last day with (baby name). I heard Adam knocking on my front door and went to open it.
He stood there holding a flower. He probably got off my garden right now, but I still appreciated the gesture. I smiled, grabbing the baby, along with my small purse and followed him to his car.
He drove us to the local pizza place and got our food to go. He led us to a peaceful place in the park and we ate and talked about anything we could think of.
I layed with my head on his lap admiring the way his hair looked in the moonlight.
Oh shit the moon, what time was it?
I sat up quickly barely realizing it got dark.
"What time is it?!" I cleaned up our spot quickly. He looked at me confused for a moment before widening his eyes.
"8:56!" He looked down at his watch. The 'baby' had surprisingly not cried this whole time.
Adam quickly drove me home before I got into any more trouble for being out late.
-
The next day, the last day I sat back in my child development class with all the things we were leant.
The teacher had been checking our progress throughout the week and already had our grades for us. She walked around giving back our graded worksheets.
Adam and I had both gotten a C , probably because we had lost him.
"At least we didn't fail?" He tried to lighten the mood.
"We did pretty okay, not considering the fact that you lost him."
"We should make real ones." He winked at me.
"Adam Banks do you kiss your mother with that mouth?!" I shrieked.
I am so so sorry for not updating, I've been suuuper busy with school :(.
