It was a few days after we'd been away at the beach. The boys were off at Boot Camp and I was nervously awaiting word on how they'd done. They weren't technically supposed to be contacting any friends or family while they were away, but I'd gotten a few sneaky texts off of Aston since he'd left. No substantial information though, just little updates.
It was weird not having him around the flat. Yeah, we'd hardly see each other during the day, since we were off at work and doing our music, but every night we managed to end up in each other's beds and we'd wake up together the next morning. It had been two nights on my own in my bed and I didn't like it one bit!
It was late afternoon on the last day of Boot Camp, the boys would be back in a few hours and I'd finally get to hear the verdict on whether they made it through or not. In the meantime, I'd invited Jen round for a cup of tea and a catch up. Was about time I filled her in on the whole me and Aston thing.
"Still can't believe you didn't say anything!" she laughed as she sipped her tea. "To be fair, I knew all along that you two were going to get together."
"I know... Was just weird at first," I replied. "I mean he's my flatmate. I didn't want to get in too deep and then have it all fall apart. Would have been so awkward to still have to live with the guy."
"Yeah, but its mighty convenient," winked Jen.
"I don't know what you're talking about," I laughed awkwardly as I flushed red.
"Oh my god, you guys have!!!"
"Have what?"
"Slept together!"
"Uhhh..." I started, but there was no way of saving it.
"Tell me everything," she said. "From when this all started.
So I sat there and recounted our entire relationship, from the wedding to flatmate's night to our trip to the sea the previous weekend. I tried to save a few of the more intimate details, didn't need to kiss and tell everything!
"So you really like him!" said Jen.
"Yeah, I do."
"Do you love him?" she asked me.
"Love is a really strong word Jen," I sighed. To be fair, I don't think I'd ever been in love before. I didn't know what it felt like. Was this thing I had with Aston love? Or was it just a really good relationship? I was scared to commit myself to the word love.
"Don't be scared Jess," smiled Jen, "I can see your mind spinning in there."
"Maybe it's love," I started, "But maybe not. This is still a pretty new relationship, only been together properly for like six weeks. And with this whole X Factor thing going on, it could get really complicated."
"Just don't close yourself off to the possibility," said Jen. "This could be really good for you."
I smiled and then busied myself making another pot of tea and hunting down some biscuits. I didn't really want to talk about the future of Aston and I's relationship anymore. I was happy to live it out day by day.
"So then," said Jen as I set everything out in front of us, "How's your music coming?"
"Well, I've done a demo and I've been spending some time in the studio with a couple of guys I met while gigging." With that I told her all about the job in LA and the demos I'd sent out to the production houses in London. "Not like I'm actually going to hear anything though," I said defeated.
"Hey! Don't think like that," said Jen. "You're amazing at what you do, I'm sure someone out there would kill to have you making tracks."
"Maybe..." I sighed.
Just then the door swung open and I looked up to see a very tired looking Aston.
"Go see your boy then," said Jen quietly with a wink.
"Hey babe," I said across the room as Aston dropped his bag on the floor and kicked off his shoes.
"Hey," he said. He sounded sad and immediately my heart sank. Did they get cut?
"And..." I started, still stood across the room from him.
"Well... they said that our vocals could use some work. And that our song choice could have been better."
"Oh..." I said disappointed, my heart beating fast.
"But... WE'RE GOING TO JUDGES HOUSES!" he shouted.
I didn't have to think twice, I ran at him and jumped on him, wrapping my legs around his waist and my arms around his neck.
"Babe, that's amazing," I said as tears started to form in my eyes. "I'm so proud of you boys."
At this point the water works were on for the both of us, I can only imagine that Jen was sat there awkwardly observing.
"I missed you so much," whispered Aston into my hair as he slowly set me down.
"Me too," I said wiping the tears from my eyes.
"Aww babe," he laughed slightly. He then darted his eyes to Jen and back to me, as if to ask, does she know about us? I nodded my head just slightly and then a second later Aston's lips were on my own in a long sweet kiss.
I could hear Jen running the sink in the kitchen and I pulled away from Aston, making my way to find out what she was doing.
"I'm going to go so you guys can have your little celebration," she winked at me.
"No you don't have to!"
"No it's fine babe, I'm meeting a client for dinner tonight anyways. Should go soon to get ready."
"You sure?"
"Yeah," she said wiping her hands on a towel and then grabbing her bag. "Keep me posted on everything," she whispered to me before going out to the living room and congratulating Aston with a hug.
After she left I went back to the living room to find Aston laid out on the couch.
"Babe you look exhausted," I said.
"I'm a bit tired," he laughed. "Only got about three hours sleep all weekend."
"Awww... how about I cook us something to eat and then we'll get you to bed."
"Only if you come with me," he smirked.
"Ahhh... he's exhausted but he's still cheeky," I laughed getting up and going to the kitchen to make some pasta.
"I'll take that as a yes," he shouted after me.
"Only because it's been too weird not having you around," I told him from the doorway. What was I going to do while he was at Judge's Houses? Or if they made the Live Shows? Better enjoy every moment I could, I thought.
