I pulled up and saw his red mustang parked in the front and I let out a sigh of relief before parking next to his car.
I knocked on the door and waited for someone to answer.
The older man answered and he smirked and looked down at me.
"You lost sweetheart?" he reached out for me and I took a step back.
"I'm here for Alec, is he home?" I asked.
"Nah sweets you just missed him, you should go now." he tried to shut the screen door and I shook my head. Something wasn't sitting right with me.
"Sorry, I need to see him," I forced my way in and realized the stench of him was alcohol and something else.
He grabbed my arm and I pulled my arm out of his grip, "Alec!" I called out and went forward into his house gripping onto my arm that was just touched, I fought the memories while trying to find him.
He was in the kitchen with a bloody towel and a woman was sitting on the stool holding a paper towel to her nose.
Alec dropped the towel and came towards me.
"I told you not to come here," he said in a low voice before looking behind me.
"I told her to scram but she insisted and pushed her way through, fucking whore" he said through his teeth.
"Is that your mom?" I asked.
"Now's not a good time, I need you to leave. Please," he begged but I pushed past him and picked up the bloody towel.
"I want her out of here!" the guy yelled then throwing something and I ducked thinking it was coming towards me.
"Kailen," Alec grabbed my wrist and I looked up at him before seeing his mother who looked barely able to comprehend what was going on.
"Is he always like this?" I asked him.
"Kailen go before you get hurt," he was pleading with me but I couldn't leave. This all felt too real to me. I was always hiding from my father when he got this way. I wasn't going to let this man ruin another woman.
"Little bitch you get the fuck out of my house or else I'll call the police!" he growled.
"Do it," I snapped, "and while you're at it tell them about why she's bleeding!"
He charged towards me but Alec pushed him back, "don't fucking think about it."
I wetted the towel before going to his mother's aid, "can you stand?" I asked.
"I shouldn't have touched the remote," she muttered.
"Alec we need to take her to the hospital!" I looked up at him and looked back at the now passed out drunk before getting to his mom.
"Go home, I got the rest," he picked up his mom and started walking to his mustang and I followed.
"I'm coming with you! Where's Charlie?"
"Charlie's at her friends, I won't let her see him like this."
"Should I call you dad?" I asked.
"Go home, get some sleep. I'll text you in the morning," he closed the side door before grabbing my driver side door for me.
He grabbed my shaking hands where the towel was, "let me come with you please."
"I didn't want you here in the first place, please go," he kissed my forehead before getting in his car and driving off.
I looked at the house and then his car drove off.
I got in my car and started my car before leaving, the blood was on my hands and I still felt myself shaking.
Alec called me and I ignored it, I was mad that he didn't want me there. He called again and I shut my phone off.
I wanted to be there but he pushed and told me no.
I got home and Matt and my mom were at the breakfast table.
"Matt, Alec is taking Marissa to the hospital," I said quickly and he got up in a hurry before leaving.
"Your hands!" my mom grabbed them.
"It's not my blood, it's hers."
"What were you doing at her house!" My mom waited for an explanation and reason for this.
I couldn't give her an explanation because I myself wasn't okay, everything was catching up again and I broke down in my homecoming dress on the kitchen floor.
