ROBBIE

"Seriously, man, I still can't believe you two are having twins."

"Tell me about it, Graham. I had a long-ass list of everything I needed to do to prep for one baby and then the doc says that we're going to have two? I'm still checking the ultrasound picture to make sure she wasn't bullshitting us."

Since arriving back state-side, Graham and I put our issues aside, well more he put his issues with me aside, and we've gone back to that friendship we had in high school. It is different now, of course, I'd actually argue that we're closer now because we're more mature and grown-up. We're dealing with some more adult things.

It isn't unusual for us to talk on the phone at least once a week. We usually talk about his games and the team. Clementine and I like to watch the live streams and cheer him on from the living room. He still has plenty of calls with Clem and Vivienne is always asking to video call him, but this relationship that the two of us have is developing and pretty fucking awesome.

"Is she still feeling sick? I remember she had a pretty tough time with Vivi."

"She's got a bunch of trigger foods and smells, so it is kind of a learning experience. The newest food on her shit list is onions. I guess Tilly brought some home from the diner for lunch on Thursday and Clementine barely made it to the bathroom before upchucking."

"Eww, that's fucking gross."

"Right? But hey listen, while I have you on the phone, I wanted to talk to you about the wedding."

"Yeah, Akira and I are still invited, right? Clemmy promised I could be the ring bearer and Vivienne and I are planning matching outfits."

"You're so fucking weird." Graham starts cracking up on the other line. "Continuing on, obviously you two are invited, but we're moving the wedding up."

"For real? Because of the babies?"

"Yep. I know maybe it isn't a big deal for some people, but I want Clementine's and Vivi's names changed before the twins get here so that we can all have the same last name, like the real family that we are."

"Makes sense. Can't you change Vivi's without the wedding though? You are her legal father."

"Yeah, we're working on that. Since Clem didn't put me on the birth certificate, we have to go through the courts to get my name added as the father. Vivienne and I were just in Hillshire last weekend to get DNA tests done. Once we get the results back, the judge shouldn't have much of a reason to deny the petition. Still though, Clem and I don't want to wait until after the twins are born, we want to get married as soon as we can."

"As soon as you can, meaning in the middle of the season?" He asks, disappointedly.

"I know, I know. Listen though, Clem and I looked through your schedule and we found two days that might work. One is an off day before you start a series in Texas and the other is a day off after a series in Oklahoma. I know that means paying for transportation on your own and it would be a lot of travel just for one day, but if you could..."

"Send me the dates and I'll see what I can do. It isn't totally against the contract to ask for a few personal days, but I'm trying to make the big league team and I'd prefer not rocking the boat, ya know?"

"I feel you. We don't care if the wedding is on a Monday or a Thursday, we just want you and Akira to be there."

"Of course, we'll be there."

"One more thing."

"What's up?"

"Will you be my best man?" The line goes silent for a few beats and I'm actually nervous he might say no. "Um....Graham?"
