Chase POV•••
Gordon seemed pleased with my request. "Quite unique I must say. Right away young man. Anything for you Sir?"
"I'll have the same thing."
I gave Gordon the menu and he went to the cook.
"Soup for breakfast? I have to say you're definitely different."
"I hope it's in a good way." He nodded.
"So, why soup?"
"Well, I guess I was just craving it. My mom used to make it for me when I was a kid. Unfortunately I never learned how to make it so I couldn't have it." After that we stood there awkwardly for a couple minutes.
"Chase, come sit on the couch. We're going to have a talk."
Oh great, did I do something wrong? Was it a serious talk, I hate serious talks. We both sat on the couch, apparently the couch is where we talk and ask questions.
"So I've been thinking about something. I'm sure you'll be pleased to hear it."
Well the only thing I'd be pleased to hear is if I was being let go, but that won't happen in a million years.
"Actually, it's going to happen after we delete the video." I just stared at him, what did he just say... did he hear me correctly? He had to have not, unless he did?
"After we delete the video off your laptop I'm going to let you go. I realize that you honestly don't deserve to be here, you're a good person. Also you've started to make me feel certain emotions that I've never felt before when hurting someone. I don't like how they make me feel so I'm kicking you out."
A smile appeared on my face along with a nervous laugh. "Are you kidding? That's not something to kid about. Are you messing with me?" He shook his head.
"I'm being serious. You're off the hook."
I was filled with pure joy, I could go back to my life. Granted it's only been like 3 days or something but it's felt like weeks since I've been taken. I couldn't hide my excitement.
"Omg... thank you, thank you, thank you. Oh also, I swear I won't tell anybody about you or what happened. Don't worry. Man I really thought you were just some crazy murderer but you actually have a good side." He laughed at my last comment.
"Of course, I'm still a human with a conscience, well sort of."
I leaped towards him and gave him a tight hug. "Thank you so much! I'm honestly so grateful and happy." He hugged me back.
"I know, your welcome."
We sat on the couch and talked like we knew each other for years until the food was ready. I guess you could say it was easier to talk to him knowing he wasn't going to kill me.
Gordon placed the bowls on the island and pulled some chairs over for us.
"Breakfast is served."
"Thank you, sir."
"Please young man, call me Gordon. I believe it's appropriate now that you and Kylo have become friends."
Friends? He thinks we're friends? "Well are we not friends now?" I mean, we could be. You did kidnap me and beat me to a pulp, but I could try to look over that in time, I think. "Really? That's awesome, I'm glad you think so."
"Well then, thank you Gordon for the food."
"Yes, thanks Gordon."
Gordon left, me and Kylo ate breakfast. The soup was perfect, it was so close to the one my mom made. It made me so happy.
"Wow, Chase. This is amazing! I've never had this before."
"Are you serious, this isn't a fancy dish or anything?"
"That's the problem, I grew up eating fancy dishes. I don't eat..."
You better choose your next words carefully Kylo.
"Um... comfort food."
Actually, that's a perfect way to put it. "I'm glad to hear it, maybe I'll introduce you to more 'comfort food'." He smiled and continued eating. We both finished and got ready to leave. "Oh I forgot my bag upstairs, could I go get it?"
"Don't worry, I'll go get it for you."
Kylo went upstairs to retrieve my bag. I sat on the couch and waited. Then Gordon walked in and stood next to me. I sat up straight and looked at him. "Um, hi Gordon. Is something wrong?"
"On the contrary young man, it's something right. I wanted to say how much I appreciate you."
I was stunned. "M-me? What did I do?"
"You changed Kylo for the better. You see, he's always struggled with his emotions, he wasn't able to feel remorse, pity, or concern for others which is why it was so easy for him to hurt people. You could say he somewhat enjoyed it. But you made him feel all of those."
Those were the emotions he was talking about, that's why he was acting so nice to me. He actually felt guilty.
"You're a special young man. I envy you. I do hope you could look past his short comings and perhaps, accompany him, whether that'd be as a companion or something else. I believe you're a good influence on him, and I wouldn't want anyone else to help him become a better person."
I was trying to take in everything he said. That meant so much to someone like me, a nobody who wasn't appreciated by anybody.
"Thank you so much Gordon. I'll try my best. This might sound weird but you remind me of my father. He always had a way with words like you, and your smile is the same. I hope that perhaps we could be friends too, please call me Chase."
"It's an honor to be compared to someone of great importance to you. Thank you Chase. I hope to see you soon. Also, the cook became fond of your request, he asked me to tell you that you're welcome to request anything you like from him."
With that he left and Kylo walked in.
"You know, he's never been that friendly to anybody since I've known him. You appear to have that affect on everybody without even trying."
"You heard everything?"
"I hear everything in this house."
"Right, well are you ready?"
He handed me my bag and opened the front door for me.
