The next day, I was practically asleep in Biology class when the door was violently flung open. My head shot up at the sudden noise, revealing the last person I thought would ever come back to school.
"Calum Hood?" my teacher, Mr. Smith, questioned once he caught sight of Calum. Calum had been one of those genius kids in high school; he took this Biology class his sophomore year.
"Dave, long time no see." Calum grinned, adjusting the black sunglasses over his eyes and running a hand through his brown hair.
"You aren't back in school are you?" Mr. Smith asked.
"Ha. No. I'm here to pick someone up." Calum shrugged. His gaze met mine, a smirk tugging at the ends of his lips. The girls that sat across from me we're practically drooling over Calum, making me roll my eyes. That's just great for his ego.
"Mr. Hood, you can't just come in a classroom whenever you please and take people out of it." Mr. Smith spoke, slight irritation noticeable in his voice.
"It's an emergency, sir." Calum said, finally removing his sunglasses.
But it wasn't an emergency; Calum pulled this stunt once before to get me out of Algebra class, but it didn't work back then. Something told me it wasn't going to work today, either.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Hood-"
"I'll bring her back later, I promise." Calum muttered. "McKingsley, let's go." Calum grinned at me. A lot of the girls shoulders fell as he motioned to me, some even glaring at me.
I collected my things quickly and walked over to Calum, after ignoring plenty of evil stares from all of the girls, and even Mr. Smith.
"What are you doing here?" I hissed.
"I have something to show you." he almost laughed. He pulled open the classroom door for me and motioned for me to walk through, then he followed me out the door. He took my hand and tugged me toward the parking lot, almost breaking into a run.
"Calum." I complained and tried to break away from his tight grasp.
"We're almost there, I promise." he chuckled.
Once we reached the parking lot, he rushed over to the car on the sidewalk and shouted, "Ta Da!"
It was Calum's old red truck that I always loved so much. He found it. He got it back. I couldn't believe it; I loved this truck so much a couple years ago and it was back. It actually felt like our friendship was finally falling back into place.
"Calum!" I shrieked and ran into his arms for a hug.
"Mum told me where it was, and I totally had to come pick you up so we could go for a drive." he grinned, then opened the passenger door for me as I climbed in.
"I can't believe it." I whispered when he climbed in his side.
"I knew you'd love it." he chuckled and pulled out of the parking lot. As he flipped on the radio, some random All Time Low song was playing that Calum knew all the words to (which didn't surprise me because he's obsessed with All Time Low).
We drove and sang and laughed for what felt like hours. After a little while, we stopped and grabbed some burgers, then Calum pumped the tunes while he drove me home.
"Sorry I had to pull you away from Bio, I know you just love it." he mumbled sarcastically when he pulled up into my driveway.
"Oh yeah, it's totally my favorite class." I rolled my eyes and pulled open the door, but didn't get out. Calum chuckled at my comment.
"I'll see you later, McKingsley. Have a good night." he waved as I climbed out and slung my backpack over my shoulder.
"Bye Cal." I smiled, waved to him, and watched him drive down the street.

Calum pov
"Mate, you gotta stop being late to band practices." Ashton groaned when I walked into Luke's place.
"Fuck off, I was with Jade." I mumbled, fidgeting with my wallet to avoid all of their eyes. I already knew they were all smirking at me.
"Again?" Luke asked, and I could almost hear the smirk on his stupid face.
"I said fuck off." I muttered.
"Calum, chill. We're just messing around. Why do you get so defensive?" Michael chuckled, then gasped. "Ash, I owe you five bucks." he muttered.
"Why do you owe him five bucks?" I asked, letting my curiosity get the best of me.
"Michael and I made a bet. He said you don't love Jade, I said you do. Looks like I won." Ashton grinned, holding out his hand as if he wanted Michael's money now.
"I knew in the back of my head you were in love with her, but I was trying to defend you, mate. Thanks for the help." Michael groaned, slamming the money into Ashton's palm.
"I'm not in love with Jade." I spoke, my voice even.
"Cmon Calum. Everyone knows that's a lie!" Luke groaned. I wanted to smack each one of them on their stupid little heads, my life is non of their concern.
"It's not." I mumbled. I'm really lousy at defending myself.
"You need to tell her before she falls for that Cameron guy." Ashton informed me, and I rolled my eyes.
"It's Carter, and she won't fall for him. She's too busy obsessing over Ethan Reed." I muttered.
"Dude, he practically raped her. I doubt she's still in love with him!" Michael yelled at me like I was stupid, which I probably am. Michael did have a point, which was a rare occasion.
"So what if she's not, that doesn't mean she's going to automatically love me!" I yelled at them. I didn't want to talk about this anymore, why can't we just practice like a normal band?
"So you make her love you." Luke shrugged, as if the answer was obvious.
"I'm not in love with Jade!" I yelled for the last time.
Don't lie, the stupid little voice in my head told me. I hated lying to my best friends, but they don't need to be dicks about this.
"We get in man, it's hard to actually tell your best friend you're in love with her. You don't know how, do you?" Luke asked.
"I said, fuck off!" I yelled, throwing a pillow at him, and it hit him square in the face. I'm so done with this stupid band.
But something told me Luke was right.
How the hell do you tell your best friend you're in love with her?
