"I'll leave you alone," I whisper, and Bucky hands me the box. As I walk out of the room and close the door, I can hear Nat crying. I'm sorry Natasha. I think.
On my way down to the common floor, I grab my computer and carefully set everything down on the dining room table. "What are you doing Peter?" Tony asks as a carefully take the lid off.
"Let me just take out everything that's in this box, and I'll explain why Nat and Bucky aren't coming down."
"Do you want help?" He offered.
"Well, no, because I'm sure you'd be asking a lot of questions that everyone else has and I don't wanna answer it twice."
"Okay," Tony says. "I'll get Steve and the rest of the team." I carefully pull out the birth certificate and place it down on the table, carefully putting down all the photos around it. On the back of all the photos, there's Nat's delicate handwriting, telling when the photo was taken.
"What's this about Peter?" Sam asks.
"You asked why Nat and Bucky aren't here. I'll explain. I'll answer all your questions at the end. To the best of my abilities." I add.
"Who's that?" Tony asks, pointing to the photos.
"Sit around the table," I say. "And I'll explain." The whole team takes a seat and looks at me for an explanation. "The girl in all those photos, her name is Rose. Why don't you read her full name off the birth certificate." I say, pointing to Steve who's right in front of it.
"On February 11, Rose Katrine..." He stops for a second. "Rose Katrine Barnes-Romanova was born."
"Bucky and Natasha have a kid?" Rhodey asks.
"Had." Wanda interrupts. "When I read Peter's mind he mentioned that they were mourning someone. I'd assume it was her."
"Yeah." I say.
"But on the birth certificate it says she was born in 1950. Natasha wasn't alive yet. By about 30 years."
"Wait, what year do you think Natasha was born?" I ask.
"1984." Steve replies. "Is that not correct?"
"Nat was born in 1925." I say. "You and Bucky aren't the only super soldiers. She was given a version of it too." I pause, giving them a second for that to sink in. "Do you want to see some videos of Rose? That's what these flash drives are of."
"Sure. Did Nat and Bucky say this was okay?" Sam asks.
"Yeah. Bucky told me to tell you. He said that I should tell you because he'd start crying if he tried to tell you."
"Bucky?" Tony asks. "Crying? I'm sorry, I can't see either of them crying."
"Well, in one of these-" I point to the flash drives, "You'll see them both cry."
"Okay, well, lets watch them." Tony says and I plug the first one into my computer. "It's all in Russian, but you'll get the gist of it." I say.
"One question." Sam says. "Why'd they tell you?"
"It's a long story I'll tell you after the drives." I say as the video cues up. Across the screen, there's a title card that shows,
"December 5th, 1956." Wanda reads. "Location, classified." The first face in the screen is Bucky's, and his gloved hand is pressed over a little girl's eyes.
"You know Russian?" I asked.
"I know Sokovian and Sokovian uses the Cyrillic alphabet too, so I can piece together Russian."
