We arrived on Jamaica a few days later, the port was busteling with people and while Jamie and Fergus dealt with business and find the ship where Michael was probably on, me, Arabella and Eilidh went or own way and tried to blend in and find information aswell.
We ate fresh fruit and after months that tasted like heaven, the fever was gone but I was still weakend. But seeing Eilidh walking around in the sun and having fun with Arabella was the best thing in the world.
We met Jamie near a allyway and he joined us. We walked further and suddenly I stopped as I realised that I was on slavemarket. I quickly pulled Eilidh towards me and forced her to look down, It was a part of history, a cruel and unfair history that should have never happend, that was told on school but showing it her in real life was to much.
I felt uneasy and sick again and Jamie noticed it. "Whit's wrong?" He asked and I shook my head.
"Slaves Jamie, Those are Slaves," I managed to brought out. "I'm going to the hostel with Eilidh, this is not the place where I want her to be,"
Before he could argue I turned around and pushed Eilidh away from the market.Jamie didn't found Michael on the slavemarket or any information and our hope was now on to find information on the Governor's ball tonight. In honor of that Jamie had bought me and Eilidh a new dress, fitted for the party and we where both reminded of the party in Versaille, except my dress was now a bit more modest than it was back then.
Inside the governors palace was busy and hot and we had to wait in line to meet the governor.
Surrounded by "servants" I felt again uneasy and Jamie looked at me.
"Whin does it end?" I looked at him again. "Th' slave trade?"
"Not for another 70 years in the British Empire," Eilidh answered in front of us. "A hunderd in America,"
Jamie froze and we moved forward without a word.
Arabella and Fergus where an obivous couple in love and looked from time to time to Jamie who tought the same. We where like that when we where first wed. He placed his hand on my back to push me forward but he stopped and frozed instead. I turned around to see him standing there with a face of shock disbelieve and a little hint of sadness.
"What is it?" I asked him worried and I noticed that Eilidh moved on and that we where closer to the governor who was a young and handsome man.
"Mibbie tis fur o' yer 'n' Eilidh comin' thro' th' stanes," he managed to bring out and I raised my eyebrows.
"What Jamie? What is going on," I laid mine hand on his arms but he stared at the governor.
"Th' ghosts, that keep comin' intae oor bides, drawn tae us th'......" I looked also at the governor but noticed nothing wrong. "We ur drawn tae ilk ither." he looked at me and then walked forward.
As soon as Jamie stepped in few of the Governor, who now introduced himself to Eilidh, he frozed.
"Yer excellency," Jamie bowed and I saw a smile creep on his face while the governor looked at him in shock and the same disbelieve Jamie had a few minutes ago.
He struggled to find the words and then with the biggest smile I have ever seen he found it. "Jamie," He brought out.
"Guid tae see ye John," Jamie spoke and I looked from on at the other while Eilidh walked near me again.
"This is ma guidwife, Greer 'n' ye met mah daughter Eilidh awready," Jamie finally introduced us and he placed his hand on my elbow to pull me near while I still was puzzled over what was happening. But I bowed down for him and gave him a polite smile. "Greer, this is Lord John,"
Lord John bowed his head for me and I looked at Jamie, Then it hit me. "John Grey?" I asked.
The young boy who "threathend" me at Prestonpans, the young boy we spared and in return his brother spared Jamie' life after Culloden. Lord John who helped Jamie in Ardsmuir and send him to Hellwater. The "father" of Jamie' son.
"Yes," he answered. "But I thought you whe...."
"Aye," Jamie quickly answered. "Ah tought she'd died tae, bit she returned tae me," I lovingly smiled at Jamie who quickly smiled back.
"My god," Lord John brought out and then looked at Jamie. "But how?" he asked me.
'That's a rather long story which I not intend to tell you to spare you from boredom," I politly answered and Lord John focused his look once more on Jamie.
"Come. Let's talk in private." He said to both of us and walked away.
Jamie looked at me and I turned around to left Eilidh in the care of Fergus and Arabella and we followed him quickly.A/n for everybody who read book 2 I know I skipped that part. I know in the orignal time line it's way to early for John to be Governor. But my boy NEEDS to be in this story.
