Derek had told Meredith told wear something semi casual. So Meredith picked out some light colored jeans and a nice sweater. She put Dai in leggings and a t-shirt and feed her an early dinner because she didn't want to worry about if her daughter had eaten during her date.
Derek had planned all night long. He decided that he was going to do something risky for their date. They weren't going to go to dinner and be all sappy, they were going to go to the park that had a treehouse. When they got to the treehouse, which he had already stalked with everything they needed, they were going to play some sidewalk chalk and then they were play with some modeling clay. Then after they were done with that, he bought a bunch of different desserts and they would combine to see what they could create. Then they would eat their desserts and watch a movie.
Derek and Amy hopped in the car at 5 so they could go over to Meredith's house. It was a very uneventful car ride. Derek was talking about his date and Amy was nervous about babysitting Dai. When they arrived, Derek pulled up in her driveway and got out.
He knocked on the door, "Hello Meredith. You look... Beautiful!" Derek said as took her all in.
"Hi Derek, hi Amelia." Meredith said, with a huge smile
"Hello I have heard so much about you." Amelia said shaking Meredith's hand
"Well, you too come in. Dai is just finishing up her dinner." Meredith said opening up the door wider, allowing them to come in.
They walked in the house and then Meredith lead them into the kitchen where they say Dai in her high chair eating some butter noodles.
"So, Dai has already eaten dinner as you can see. Um, you need to give her a bath and there are some pjs in her room that she can wear. Then she needs to be put in bed by 7:30. She might want a bedtime story so there are books over there," Meredith said pointing towards a bookshelf, "She only gets one story otherwise..."
"Meredith you're rambling, its ok. Dai is going to fine." Derek said looking at Meredith, worry written all over her face.
"I know but I have never left her before, besides daycare of course." Meredith said
"It's ok Meredith, I am very good with kids!" Amelia said
"Ok, then. Thank you so much Amelia!" Meredith said.
Derek took Meredith's hand and lead her to the door. Meredith shut the door and locked it.
"You ready?" Derek said as he lead her to his car
"Yes! I'm so excited! What are we doing?" Meredith asked as she got into the car
"Now that, my friend, is a surprise."
"Come on Derek! Tell me! Just one thing!"
"FIne, we are going to a park that has a treehouse!"
"Cool! I have never had a treehouse before!" Meredith explained. Derek looked over at her and saw that her eyes were sparkling, he stared at them. "Derek...as much as I love you staring at me, keep your eyes on the road mister."
Derek snapped out of it and looked back at the road. They drove for a while and pulled into the park parking lot. Derek quickly got out and hurried around and opened the door for Meredith. Derek took her hand and lead her into the park. Meredith saw a huge tree house that was decorated with fairy lights. She also saw a man standing in front of the entrance.
"Derek, this better be worth it. I had to drive away many kids. I feel very mean and dirty."
"I know mark, thank you!" Derek said as Mark walked away
