Avalon, April 17 (21 years before You of the Lake was knighted)
Ah, April, the middle month of Spring. In this timeframe, crops had grown significantly and most people returned to do their jobs after a long holiday. This harvesting month has always been associated with the sign of new beginnings- with Aries the first horoscope sign spearheading it- and it had definetely delivered something new to the Lady of the Lake, Kotori.
The lady was on a usual stroll along the river of Avalon, said river leading to her home lake. She decided to take water from the fresher water body because she felt like mid-April was the perfect time to supply freshwater, with the water being cold but not as freezing as it was at Winter nor as polluted as in March due to the heavy rains that month was known of.
Before dipping her bucket to the seemingly unstoppable river, a wooden boat was rowing its way towards Kotori's direction.
"Aah! Telekinesis, stop that boat!" The ash-haired woman pulled her bucket away and stopped the boat using her spell right on time.
The lady headed towards the boat, which when she looked more closer had no indication of any rower so that the thing only followed the currents of the river. But upon close inspection, Kotori saw a surprised blue-eyed baby girl with the same hair as hers and gasped at this discovery.
"Oh, poor child. I wonder where your parents are." Kotori speaked in a soft tone while picking the baby up. The newborn was shocked with the sudden contact and her eyes started to tear up while she screamed.
"Shh, everything will be fine. I will not threathen you, child. I shall help you search for your parents, but for now, I will try my best to be their substitute." The lady hushed the baby, which seemed to work because the newborn changed her expression from being surprised to displaying a neutral emotion.
"This boat is headed to the lake, I presume that riding this is a quicker way to home than walking back. I shall give it a try." Kotori rode the boat while still carrying the baby close to her chest. She deactivated her telekinesis and the watercraft carried the two to the lake very quickly with the help of the quick-flowing river currents.
The lady of the lake transformed to her nymph form and walked through the wide water body to arrive at the water altar of hers. She slowly lowered the baby to her bed and covered her with a blanket. The newborn cried, indicating that she was hungry. Kotori felt pitiful seeing the baby in this situation.
"Hush, it will be alright. I shall search for a milk and your parents. So now that you have no need to worry, smile, for you shine as bright as the Sun of the day when you do." The lady tried to calm the baby. It proved to be effective because the ash-haired child stopped crying and a sort of smile started to form across her lips.
With that reaction, Kotori caressed the baby's head before she ran off to search for something that the baby can eat- and most importantly- know who the baby is and where her parents are.
Oh, did the Lady of the Lake not know that the responsiblity of raising a broken kingdom's former heiress was to come for her. But that was not to worry, for the baby would grow up to be what was not expected. To be Knight You of the Lake, a knight well known for her unwavering chivalry and misunderstood actions.
Camelot, April 19 of the same year
Two whole days had passed, yet still no indication of who the ash-haired baby was. Kotori had crossed her home lake with the baby in hand to arrive at Castle Camelot, which seemed small and frail at first, but it housed many brave knights and wise mages. One of whom was Kanan Matsuura, an orphan magus who was Queen Honoka's trump card for both the army and infirmary. The mage was capable of reading one person's- and one at a time- past, present, and future with only a touch.
