the teenager scans all of your stuff while you wait. he hands you the bag and you place a $20 bill on the counter. before he could start counting your change, you walked away with the bag, telling him to keep it.

you go out to stop a taxi. you put your bags in the trunk, get in, and tell the driver the address of your father's house.

he drives, while you try getting a signal to call quackity. but, discord needed wifi, and you didn't even have data.

so, you waited 15 minutes. of course, it was silent, except for you listening to music through headphones.

you make it to your father's house, finally. you pay the taxi driver, and make your way out with your bags.

walking up to the front door, you look up from your phone and back down at it constantly. what if he didn't accept you?

you hesitantly knock on the door. and it opened.

there stood a man taller than you, wearing a green sweater and pajama pants.

"what?" he spat.

"uh.." you were nervous. despite his current clothing, his face sure was intimidating. "do you know a delilah l/n?"

"yeah. haven't talked to her in a while," he answered, "why, are you related to her?"

"actually, um, yeah. i'm her kid." you say.

a look of slight curiosity takes him over. "her kid, you say? well, that must make me your father."

"that's what i was thinking, too! i've noticed how similar we look." you pointed out.

"well then, come in. it's nice to finally see you, uh.. what's your name?" he asks.

"oh, it's y/n." you answered.

"wow, your mother really does know how to name her children!" he complimented. "come in, have a seat."

all you did was chuckle at his statement. looking around, you noticed that there were beer cans, papers scattered all over the coffee table, and a gun.

you stared at the deadly weapon. was he licensed to carry this around?

"um..why is there a gun on your desk?" you asked hesitantly.

"oh, that? it's nothing. don't worry, i have my license." he answers confidently.

he grabs a can of beer and a can of sprite, and heads back to the living room. he hands you the sprite, and both of you sit down to talk.

"so, what brings you here, kid? where's mom at?" he asks, opening his can.

you look down. you didn't want to talk about the crash, but he deserved an explanation.

"she...died in a car crash, " you say. "i used to live in a foster home, but i ran away."

his face turns into a look of sorrow. "i'm so sorry for whatever they did to you."

"it's okay. it's in the past now." you said, opening your sprite and taking a sip.

"well, i promise to be the best father you've ever had!" he declares.

you giggle. "really?"

"yes, really!" he answered, taking another sip of his beer.

the both of you talk and get closer with each other. but, the more you talked, the more unsafe you felt. it turns out, your father was the leader of one of the most dangerous mafia gangs in the country.

"um, dad?" you say.

"yeah?" he responded.

"i..don't really feel safe here. what if one day i'm alone here and i get attacked?" you theorized.

"nah, don't worry. that's why i was going to ask you to join us. in exchange for living here." he offered.

"wait, what? shouldn't i just wait until i'm older?" you ask.

"nah, it's better if you start young! plus, my partner has a kid your age. i'm sure you two would get along, he's training, too!" he persuades.

"well, if it means i can defend myself..okay! i will join your team!" you agreed.

"awesome," he says.

"welcome to the wild cards, y/n."
