Chapter 10: The Dursleys

                                    

                                          


                          
It's been 2 months since the "accident" happened. Harry was able to recover fully and the summer holidays were getting closer and closer. Harry wanted to spend the whole summer with Cedric but uncle Vernon didn't want that. Maybe because Harry might have forgotten to tell them that Cedric was his boyfriend. But either way they decided that they would spend one half of the summer with Harry's family and the other half with Cedric and his dad.
                          
It was the last day of school and everyone was excited to go home but Harry was nervous, he didn't know how aunt Petunia, uncle Vernon and especially Dudley would react to Cedric. Harry wasn't the only one who was scared. Cedric had been thinking about what to wear, about what to talk with them and even the way he would introduce himself. "Ced I don't quite understand why you're putting in so much effort so they'll like you, we all kinda know they won't like you because you are Harry's boyfriend" Zach said while watching his friend walk around their room trying to figure out what to say and do. "Well I want to try at least, I really want to get along with them for the time I'll spent with them" Cedric answered. "Whatever." Zach still didn't get it.
                          
The classes went by quickly even though Cedric wasn't able to concentrate. After school Harry and Cedric met in the train. "Hey, Cedric how's it going" Harry asked with a huge smile on his face. "Well other than the fact that I'm about to shit myself out of fear I'm good." Cedric answered quickly, that might have been the most honest thing he said the last two weeks. Harry laughed "Hey I'm not gonna allow them to be rude to you in anyway" Harry wanted to calm his boyfriend down which didn't work out how he imagined it. "Uhm also, I didn't really tell them that you were my boyfriend just so you know" Harry admitted. Cedric understood but he wanted that Harry comes out as soon as possible. 

                          
Harry fell asleep on Cedric's shoulder. When they arrived Cedric woke up his boyfriend softly. After Harry realized where and who he was he gave Cedric a soft kiss on his lips. Cedric smiled into the kiss and enjoyed it, since he didn't know when he'd be able to kiss his little idiot infront of other people again. "My uncle is probably waiting" Harry said after the kiss. So they went outside of the train to look for Vernon. "So what do I talk about with your uncle?" Cedric asked in concern, Harry was slowly annoyed by Cedric's questions even though he thought it was cute how my he cared about this meeting. "I don't know to be honest, maybe about the weather. Just make sure not to mention magic in any way" he tried to answer the question. Harry himself never really got to talk to his uncle so he didn't know what he was interested in. "The weather, seriously? You know exactly that I fucking suck at small-talk" Cedric said. Then they finally found uncle Vernon. Cedric took a deep breath in and went to Harry's uncle. "Hello, it's a pleasure to meet you Mr. Dursley" he greeted Vernon friendly and gave him his hand. "Well, hello you are Cedric if I'm not mistaken" he said in a friendly tone that Harry had never heard before and shook Cedric's hand. "I didn't expect you to be this tall to be honest" Mr. Dursley laughed at the boy who was almost taller than uncle Vernon himself. Cedric let out a nervous laughter. They all got into the car while Harry was still confused about how nice and polite his uncle was.
                          
"So how's your year been, Cedric" Vernon broke the silence in the car after a while. Cedric thought about everything that happened this year from how he met Harry at the qudditch world cup, to how they were attacked by death eaters, to the triwizard tournement and the yule ball, not to forget how he made out with Harry in the prefecs bathroom, the moment he safed Harry's life in the second task and lastly how he almost lost Harry. "Mhh, well, you could say it was interesting. Never gets boring at hogwarts, does it Harry?" he said while fighting with his emotions that were all over the place right now. "Nope, everyday a new adventure" Harry said knowing exactly what Cedric meant. "Well then let me hear" Vernon said, it was like as if he wanted to be a whole new person infront of Cedric. "Well . . . We had a ball this year." Cedric said after thinking what the least magic event was this year. "Oh, who was the lucky one?" Vernon asked acting like Harry wasn't there. "Your nephew was the lucky one, actually." Cedric said "As a friend of course" he added quickly before Vernon could say anything. "Why is that my dear? The girls must be chasing you" Vernon asked in confusion. "Uhm well, I've recently had a break up you see, and I wanted to take a step back from dating. So me and Harry went as friends, and I mean we all know that Harry would have been alone without me" he answered he couldn't resist to make a joke about Harry. Vernon found it very entertaining. "That is not correct. There were many girls that wanted to go to the ball with me but I rejected them so YOU wouldn't be lonely" Harry tried to defemd himself jokingly. " Oh right I remember. Like Cho, you asked her and she rejected you because 'you aren't her type' and I mean we all know the she's a b*tch and that everyone is her type" Cedric teased " And Ginny right. Ginny Weasley rejected you because she already went with Neville. And I mean Neville is great but, Ginny chose you over Neville fucking Longbottom, that must suck doesn't it" Cedric kept teasing Harry which truly amused uncle Vernon. Harry played mad but ended up laughing super hard. "Well at least I was good enough for you, Mr. Diggory, and we all know that Ginny has a crush on me" Harry teased back, he really felt like saying 'I'm just kidding I love you, you idiot' but he remembered that his uncle was still sitting in the car with them.
                          
Soon they arrived at Dudley's school to pick him up. Dudley went to the car and saw that Cedric was sitting in the passenger seat. "Who the hell is that and why is he sitting in MY seat" Dudley screamed. "Dudley this is Cedric, our guest and now get in the car." Vernon said. Dudley wanted to sit in the front seat so badly he started to scream and cry. "No if it's really that big of a deal I can sit in the back too, I don't care honestly" Cedric said. Somehow Vernon manged to get Dudley in the back of the car and they drove home.
                          
When they arrived at home Mrs. Dursley was already waiting for them. "Oh, you are Cedric right? We prepared an extra bed for you in Harry's bedroom." she greeted the tall boy. "Pleasure to meet you Mrs. Dursley" he said, he liked aunt Petunia from the first second on. In general aunt Petunia has always been more likable than her husband. 

                          
While they were eating they talked about how well raised Cedric was and about school and stuff. Dudley wasn't used to not being the centre of attention, so he was pretty mad the whole evening. When Harry and Cedric wanted to go to Harry's bedroom Petunia asked Cedric to stay a little while because she had something to tell him. "Good luck" Harry said concerned.
                          
"So Cedric the school wrote a letter to me" she started in a serious tone, Cedric felt like he was talking to his father. "it said that Harry somehow participated in a tournement" she continiued "and it also says that Harry was in mortal danger twice. It says that Harry Potter participated in a tournement and during the second task he was about to drown. Luckily an older stundent called Cedric Diggory risked his life to safe him. Is that really true?" she asked. Cedric nodded. "You could have died and you chose to save him." she said impressed. "Yeah, even though I might have broken one or two of his ribs while I was trying to do CPR, yeah I saved him." Cedric said he never really thought about it. "Thank you. I don't wanna imagine how this would have enden without you." Petunia said. "You see when we adopted him I swore that I would do anything to keep him save. And when I read the letter my heart stopped beating for a few seconds. After I lost my sister I didn't want Harry to have the same fate and even if I made some wrong choices I still love him you know." she kept talking even though her eyes were filled with tears. She didn't understand the second letter so Cedric explained it. " Uhm for the thirs and last task we had to find a portkey in a maze. Me and Harry found and touched it a the same time but somehow ended at a graveyard. Then Peter Pettigrew appeared with a baby-like creature which turned out to be Voldemort, the person who killed Lilly and James, and he wanted to see me dead. Peter casted the killing curse on me and Harry saved me from it with jumping infront of me." Cedric started to explain which was hard for him because he suffered a lot in those three days. "Dumbledore said that he had a feeling that it wasn't to lat for him and so I brought him to the hospitalwing. I barely left him and I'm telling you those were probably the hardest days of my life." he could feel how he got close to crying. "But why did you save him in the second task and why did you stay with him." Petunia asked. That gave Cedric the rest and he started to cry. He couldn't imagine to live without Harry. Petunia thought that she said something wrong and kept apologising. "No, it- it's okay. It's just," he stopped, everyone looked at him confused, "i-, I fucking love this idiot. I couldn't imagine to be without him." just then he realised what he said, he looked at Mrs. Dursley in fear. "What?" she asked in shock, she definetly didn't expect this. "Fuck, Harry is going to kill me now" Cedric said mad to himself and started crying even harder. Petunia and Vernon where overwhelmed. "Hey it's okay, what- what's wrong" Petunia tried to comfort him. "Well, Harry is my boyfriend, but he was to scared to tell you because he thought you wouldn't support him and kick himout or something and I kinda promised him that I wouldn't say anything and now it slipped out" Cedric admitted crying. Meanwhile Vernon called down Harry who was frightened when he heard Cedric cry. "Hey Ced wha-, what's wrong" he asked concerned. Cedric wasn't able to talk because he was so mad at himself. "I'm sorry, I'm so so sorry" he sobbed. Then aunt Petunia explained the situation. "And I for my part I am proud of you, that you found yourself. And when we're already crying, I'm sorry for the way I mistreated you. I know that I left lasting trauma on your brain and I was just, stupid." Petunia said softly. Harry gave Cedric a warm hug and made sure he didn't blame himself for anything.
                          
After everything was said Harry and Cedric went to bed. It was an eventful day, and probablythe best day he ever had while being with the Dursleys.

                          


                          
Holy shit. That was a lot. I kinda wanted to bring in the Dursleys yk. and I also thought that Petunia would definetly be suportive of Harry and that she doesn't hate Harry as much as she shows in the books/movies. I'm sorry if you don't like that (I'll keep Vernon and Dudley assholes so don't worry there)
