THE PAIR'S SILENCE was quickly interrupted as Freddy slammed his lunch tray onto the table.
"Flight or invisibility?" The boy asked, sitting down next to Cassie. "If you could have one superpower, flight or invisibility, what would you pick?" He questioned the two.
"Invisibility." Cassie answered, stealing an apple slice from Freddy's tray, causing him to slap her hand.
"Well other than you," Freddy rolled his eyes. "Everybody chooses flight. You know why?"
"So they can fly away from this conversation?" Billy answered, making Cassie snicker.
"No, 'cause heroes fly." Freddy stated.
"Ah ah, Susan Storm." Cassie pointed out, continuing to eat her own lunch.
"Who doesn't want people to think they're a hero, right? But-But invisibility, no way, I mean, that's perfect. Spying around on people who don't even know you're there." As Freddy continued the rant, Cassie watched as Billy picked up his tray and walked away. "Sneaking around everywhere. It's a total villain power, right?" Cassie winced as Freddy and her became the center of attention in the cafeteria, eyes falling onto them. Cassie picked up her tray and helped her brother up to follow the boy.
"Then they did this study, and this is a real thing. They asked people the same question, You know, what power do you want? But this time, they made it so the answers were anonymous. And-And most people, since they knew that it was secret, said invisibility." He added. Cassie thought, why did she pick invisibility? Well, it feels like she already was, other than her brother, foster siblings, and Amary, no one talked to her, or conversed, or asked if she needed help with the books, or homework, or if she was okay. "And I think that's 'cause most people don't feel like heroes on the inside, deep down." That hit hard for Cassie, this was one of the many times her brother was right about something. But she saw Billy shifting his gaze, he didn't feel like a hero either.
"You're gonna run away." Cassie stated, making direct eye contact with Billy.
"I mean, you stole my Superman bullet." Freddy said, causing Cassie to frown. But did she expect it? Maybe.
"Believe me, I get it. You've been screwed over way too many times. You don't trust anyone. But that's the thing about invisibility. You end up by yourself." She quoted, she saw the tiniest twitch from Billy's mouth, quivering to a frown but replacing it with a serious look.
"I didn't steal your brother's dumb bullet." He scoffed as he walked to the restroom, leaving the Freeman twins with frowns plastered on their faces."

THE HELL CASSIE HAD TO CALL school had finally ended. As the foster family plus Amary walked out of the grey building. As Freddy and Amary engaged in conversation, Cassie continued to make faces to tease the two and walked towards Mary.
"Hey, if it's fine, can we stop by the convenience store, I could go for a pink sprinkle donut right now." She asked her older sister.
"Sure, sounds delicious, after we drop off the others, we'll go." Mary smiled, as Cassie returned it.
"Hey, how was it today?" Mary asked as Billy passed infront of them. When no response formed from Billy, Mary's smile faded. "That good, huh?" She sighed as Cassie rubbed her shoulder in comfort. Cassie's eyes tore from Billy as he walked away and widen as she watched a truck crash into Freddy.
"Oh, my God! Freddy! Are you okay?" Cassie didn't hesitate to check on her brother, with the help of Mary. "What the hell?!" She yelled, facing the Breyer brothers who stepped out of the truck.
"What is wrong with you two?" Amary shouted as the brothers grabbed Freddy rather harshly from her.
"No way that's gonna buff out."
"You gonna pay for that thing?" They taunted, pressing Freddy against the truck.
"For the dent you made almost hitting me? Yeah, sure, um, do you guys take these?" Freddy asked as he flipped the two off, making Cassie slightly smile, but the smile altered as the boys threw her twin to the ground.
"Freddy! Leave him alone, assholes." As one brother continued to beat Freddy, the other held Cassie back, causing her to scream in pain from her broken arm. "Leave him alone!" She cried. She felt helpless, she had to watch her brother get beaten senselessly and was unable to do anything about it.
"Don't touch my siblings!" She heard Darla's cries. Cassie struggled to escape the grip of the other brother to reach her own.
"What, you need your fake family to stand up for you? Stand up for yourself, man." They teased, as Cassie's tears continued to flow.
"What are you gonna do? Go home, cry to mommy? Oh, yeah, you don't have a mommy."
"Stopping hurting him!" Cassie shouted.
"Hey!" She heard another voice, as the brother turned them around, they were faced with Billy, who had picked up Freddy's crutch, and hit the brother who was holding Cassie. After being released, she headed to Freddy. "Man, sorry about that. That wasn't fair, but, then again, you don't play fair, so." Billy started only to be cut off by being pushed onto the side of the truck. Cassie sucked her teeth in, wincing at the shove, then diverting her attention back to Freddy.
"Are you ok?" She asked, examining her twin.
"Ew, get off of me, it looks like you actually care for me." Freddy playfully joked, making Cassie chuckle.
"Back off, assbags, I know how to use these things!" She heard Eugene holding his nunchucks, only hitting himself instead.
As Amary helped Freddy and Cassie up, Cassie watched as she watched Billy running from the boys after saving their asses. He didn't have to do that, but he did, and that wasn't so bad.
