"I'm sorry I didn't pay attention to you today, I should've stepped away for a moment to listen to you." Hiccup said.

After Astrid's little announcement that she is 99% certain she is carrying their child, the couple, married of just over 3 weeks, snuck home together. They managed to get out of the hall unnoticed with Toothless' help.

The black dragon ran around the hall with Spitelout's hat for who knows how long. He must have been having fun because even by the time they were home and upstairs, Spitelout's yells were still prominent in the air.

Now, the couple were laid on the bed in the comfy clothing. Astrid lay in her spot on her back with Hiccup to her right. He had his head lain on Astrid's breast, their legs intertwined while Hiccup, with the hand that wasn't trapped under Astrid's head, gently caressed her flat belly with his thumb.

Astrid placed on hand on top of his, rubbing her belly with him, as they other made it's way through the auburn mess that was on her chest. "It's okay Hiccup, I understand."

Hiccup quit the soothing motion. "No, it's not okay. You are my wife, my wife that is carrying my child..."

"Hopefully." Astrid added. "Still relatively early and we need to see gothi. My bleeding is only a couple days late."

"Yes, hopefully. But you should be my number 1 priority." Hiccup sighed and grasped Astrid's small hand. "I'm so sorry milady."

She ran her hand to the back of his head, grasping it. "Look at me babe." He did as told. "Don't say that. There is nothing to be sorry about, you are the chief and you have your duties. Please don't act as if I am a needy woman because I am perfectly capable to caring for myself. Don't make me go off and prove that." She said.

Hiccup chuckled as he sat up and scooted back next to his wife, wrapping his arms around her shoulders in the meantime. "Yes ma'am." He said, giving her a peck on the head.

She giggled and settled into his chest as they normally did at night. The candles next to the bed flickered as slight winds brushed through the cracks in the wall. Astrid's breathing slowed, but Hiccup could still tell she was wide awake.

"Have you really not gone to Gothi yet?" Hiccup asked after some time.

Astrid shook her head.

"So, should I clear my schedule so that we can do that tomorrow?"

Astrid craned her head upwards. "Not yet please. Once we confirm that I am carrying our child...everything will be different." She sighed. "Just give me one more week. One more week before having to tell the village, one more week before giving up my job at the academy...and one more week before I have to start making baby clothes if I am with child."

Hiccup chuckled at her expression. The thought of sewing and knitting didn't seem to please Astrid as she looked like Snotlout after drinking her yaknog for the first time.

"Alright." Hiccup agreed.

After that, the couple fell asleep once more in each other's arms.

Over the course of the next two days, Hiccup was a little more peppy than usual, but not to were many noticed. He rushed to get his list done so that at night he and Astrid could go straight to bed and lay there together. Valka knew something was up, since Hiccup got up at the butt crack of dawn to get his list done. Even Toothless was still asleep by the time his rider was a quarter through his list. Somehow he managed to balance everything perfectly, waking up early, do his chiefly duties, flying Toothless twice a day, have lunch with Astrid, pop into the academy every once in a while and make it home before sundown to make dinner for Astrid, his mother and their dragons. He even made time to take Astrid on a much needed date night.
