Oliver:
I was only slightly joking when I said that I had separation anxiety from Ivy. On just the first night back at Hogwarts, I had to resist the temptation to go to her dormitory. It wasn't healthy.
The next morning, Percy, Jackson, and I reported to McGonagall to get our schedules. We compared classes as we walked to the Great Hall for breakfast.
"Period one?" Jackson asked.
"Herbology."
"Same. Two?"
"Dark Arts," I replied.
"Same. Shit with Slytherin," Percy groaned.
"Hey that's my girlfriend's house," I pushed his shoulder. Percy just rolled his eyes. "C'mon what if I complained about Ravenclaw?" I smirked.
"That's different," he replied simply.
"How so?"
"Because they aren't assholes," he responded.
"They aren't all that bad," I said.
"Sure," he replied skeptically, "Period three?"
We compared the rest of our classes until we got to the Great Hall. I took a quick visit to the Slytherin table to compare schedules with Ivy. While we would only have Dark Arts together, I was grateful to at least have something.
After breakfast, I headed down to the greenhouses with some of my Gryffindor friends for our first class. The first Herbology class was basically just reviewing the course expectations and getting assigned working groups for the year.
If Ivy was in my class, she would've killed Professor Sprout after seeing my group: Matilda Brown, Jason Schertz, Emily Crane, and me.
What a great way to start off the year.
After some painful group ice breakers (why teachers made us do them every year, I had no clue), we walked to Dark Arts. When we reached the classroom, the new professor was nowhere in sight. We picked desks and sat down, waiting for the rest of the class to arrive.
"You don't think he already got fired, do you?" Jackson laughed, "That'd be a new record."
Flint, Ivy, and some of their friends filed into the classroom only a minute after we did. Ivy sat at the desk next to me along with her friend, Alyssa.
"'Morning," she smirked. "How was herbology."
"You'll never guess who's in my group," I said grimly.
"Fuck, it's not Matilda is it?" She asked grimly and I nodded my head. "Whatever, I had to deal with Lottie, Matilda seems harmless after her." I laughed at this. "Who else?'
"That Hufflepuff, Jason, and Emily."
"Crane?" she raised her eyebrows and I nodded. "I'm gonna kill Sprout."
"I figured you'd say that," I laughed and she rolled her eyes.
"One galleon says he's already fired," Flint announced to the Slytherins who laughed, interrupting our conversation. I marveled at how similar he and Jackson were. If it weren't for the house differences, they would be best friends. Ivy smirked at me before turning to the Slytherin's conversation.
We sat in the room for minutes, speculating about why Lockhart was so late.
Finally, five minutes after class should've started, he made his grand entrance.
"Young witches and wizards of the decade," he flashed a wide smile, "Welcome to Defense Against the Dark Arts! I hope you all will find this course as enjoyable as I do," Everyone in the class emitted a light groan at the Professor's enthusiastic, yet very loud, voice. "Today, I'd like to spend some time getting to know you and you getting to know me. I've used some of my valuable time to create a brief questionnaire about me. For those who have read my biography, this should be no problem."
