"What the shit, Anita!" exclaimed Sophie. "You spat some of that on me! What did you do that for?"
"It's him, he's-"
Anita looked back out through the window, pointing where Loki once stood to show Sophie. But...no one was there.
"Him? What are you talking about?" said Sophie, wiping the coffee Anita had spat off of her white blouse with some napkins. "Oh...I hope this comes out."
Anita was confused. That was him. That was definitely him. But he was gone. Just as fast as he had appeared, he had left. She was not imagining this. This...was real. He had been looking in at her, observing her. She could even give a detailed description of what he had been wearing. A black suit with a long black coat and a dark green scarf around his neck. And the smile on his face...it chilled her to the bone.
She stood, grabbed her bag and her skateboard. "I need to go. I'll talk to you later," she said, walking away, towards the door.
"Anita! What's wrong? Anita! Anita!" yelled Sophie.
Anita was not listening. She was focused on getting back to her dorm. She had to get back to safety. She could not let him get her. She remembered what he had said yesterday.
I will be looking forward to a kiss from you. And maybe more.
She would never let that happen. Never.
She put her skateboard down and got on it. She began to ride as fast as she could.
She was almost there. Just a few more blocks.
Suddenly, the board flew from under her feet. She fell onto the cement. She sat up and groaned in pain, having landed hard on her tailbone. It hurt a lot. After a few moments, the pain began to subside a bit.
"Trying to escape me, I see?"
Anita looked up and she was in awe at who she saw.
Loki stood over her, a smile on his face. "I told you. You cannot escape. You are mine."
She stood up hurriedly and backed away from him. She looked around for her skateboard. When she saw it a few feet away, she was devastated. It was broken in half.
"You...you broke it," Anita said quietly.
"You were trying to escape on it. Of course I broke it."
Her skateboard. It was one of the last things her father had given her before he had died. She stared at the two pieces with great pain.
"Midgardians are strange. Why would you want to use a piece of lumber with wheels attached to it as transportation?"
Tears were forming in her eyes. She picked up the two pieces.
"Well, enough about that. Let's go to Asgard, slave."
Anita did not move. A tear fell from her eye and rolled down her cheek.
"Slave? Let's go. Now."
Anita held onto the pieces tighter.
"I said, n-"
Anita took one of the pieces of her skateboard and smacked him across the face with it as hard as she could.
"Ah! You quim!"
As he was distracted, clutching his face in pain, she ran off.
***
Once Anita got to her dorm, she sat down on her bed and cried. The skateboard was not the only thing her dad had left her. But it was still something he had left behind. And having one of the things that he had left her get destroyed hurt her badly.
