That lunchtime, I pulled Cass down to the spot I always went to with Cal. I sat down behind a tree, and dragged Cass down with me.
"What are we doing here?" She asked me.
I shushed her and peeked around the tree.
Good, they weren't following.
"We're tree huggers, we hug trees." I told her. Hopefully she knew I was kidding, otherwise she would definitely think of me as crazy.
"Seriously." She said, giving me a stern look.
We had just eaten lunch in the cafeteria with the boys, and as soon as possible I had run away, dragging Cass with me, to avoid any questions. I had also seen Cara stalking me, trying to talk to me, so I was running away from her as well.
I sighed, and leant back against the tree. "Look, I am hiding from multiple people right now for multiple reasons, it's very complicated to explain."
She raised her eyebrows at me. "I can keep up." She assured me.
I grumbled for a minute about how I didn't like explaining things, and then finally sighed: I had given up.
I explained to her about Friday night when I had gotten really drunk with the boys and Aaron had gotten really angry at me and now held a grudge against the boys. I also explained to her about Ashton's feelings for me, and how he had kissed me at the party.
"Well, he's a determined little thing." Cassy laughed, and I gave her a look. She stopped laughing.
Then I explained to her about Cara, and the triangle between her, Luke and Michael. I also told her about yesterday and the request Cara had made me agree to.
I basically told Cassidy everything.
"This Cara girl sounds like a bxtch." She said.
I nodded. "Yeah, she came across like that to me as well when Mikey was telling me about her. But yesterday she seemed okay. I mean, you can't help who you fall for."
"But you shouldn't dump someone and then move right on to their best friend." Cassy was getting all worked up about this.
"That's true. I would feel horrible if that was me getting dumped for my best friend." I agreed.
"Luckily, your best friend is a guy, so you don't have that problem." Cassy giggled.
"But then Cal acts very gay sometimes." I laughed, and her giggle turned into a laugh as well.
"So what are you going to do about Cara?" She asked me once we had both stopped laughing.
I sighed and shook my head. "I have no idea. Help her, I guess." I replied, and stood up, holding out my hand to help her up.
"I'll help you, Tave." She smiled at me.
"You sure?" I asked. I didn't want her to get in the middle of this with me.
"Of course, I do anything for my friends." She replied.
