This morning I climbed up the hills and mountains, sitting on the cliff right above our ships. I wanted to feel the warm sun coming up for the first time in forever.
I wanted the sunshine on my skin.
I didn't speak to anyone that night after what happend, even though Floki tried to multiple times. I felt so hurt and heartbroken that just nothing seems right anymore. I'm even questioning if I should stay or not. If I just start walking I'd escape them and start new. But is that what I really want?I hear footsteps behind me and seconds later Hvisterk starts speaking up.
"We're going home... for now."
"Why?" I ask in shock, feeling like the gods just gave me a clear sign for my future.
"I know you're not too fond of our gods but... Odin visited us. My Father has died. Kattegat needs us." He says.
"Then you shall go back to your home."
I say seeing the sun slowly come up."You need to come with us Hella, we need you, especially with these powers."
He argues."You can take revenge for your fathers death alone."I mumble looking down to the water.
"Please Hella do it for us." He begs.
"Have just any of you ever thought about what I might want? I never got the chance for revenge, trust me I dream of it every single night. But do you see me nagging about it?" I ask looking up to him.
"It's not just about our father, please Hella I don't want to leave you here." he pleads.
I think about all the information I now got feeling overwhelmed. Isnt this exactly the sign I was looking for all along but this still doesn't completely sit right with me.
But what happens when Ivar or the Queen see me again? I'm not sure I'm ready for either of their raths."I'll come with you but just under one condition. You'll let me go to Lagertha. Then I'll see if I help you or if I leave again." I decide feeling like its one of the few good decisions I made in my life.
"Alright." he agrees and I feel my stomach flip in excitement.
...
We sailed for damned weeks when I hear the blow of the horn. I jolt up looking at Kattegat coming closer and closer to us.
"Are you ready?" Hvisterk asks nudging me
"How could I? The moment Ivar sees me I'm sure he's going to gut me alive." I say I mumble putting the hood low on my face.
"I'll arrange a new room for you so he doesn't directly find you." Hvisterk whispers as people storm the docks.
I take the chains of a few Slaves and make myself ready to go away with them."Keep quiet and don't look them in the eye. I was one of you and it doesn't end pretty if you're strong willed." I say in their language seeing them looking up at me with big, scared eyes.
"Brother!" I hear Hvisterk laugh out as I march away with the woman knowing that at least one of Ragnars sons just stood or sat there. After I brought the Slaves to the others I keep my hood low as I walk through the muddy streets. I go to the Lothbroks bathing house and close the door behind me. Gods have I missed a real bath. But there's no time for something like that, I'm waiting for Hvisterk. I'm still beyond mad and sure I could live at Floki and Helgas for a while but I still want to find the answers that Lagertha promised me.
When the door opens I see Hvisterk looking flustered around.
