The next morning, it was 7am when Paul went into John's room to wake him up.

"John!"

John awoke immediately and jumped.

"What?"

"Get up! You still have some packing to do."

"Paul, can't ye wait until the alarm goes off?"

"It never went off!"

"What?" John grabbed a hold of the alarm and examined it. "I was so certain I set it."

"Maybe its broken."

"Great. Of all the rooms in this hotel, I have to end up with one that has a broken clock."

"The clock works. The alarm doesn't."

"Okay. Whatever. Now, can ye leave so I can get dressed and get the rest of me stuff?" I'll be out in about 30 or 45 minutes."

"Okay. The rest of the band won't wake for another hour and they will be on a separate plane going to Scotland."

"Alright. Can we still stay the night? I don't really want to leave on his birthday."

"Yeh. We can stay. But we also need to leave early the next day."

"Alright."

"Do you know where Julian would be?"

"His mum's for the day."

"Nice. You can see Cyn again."

"Wow, I haven't called her that in years. Makes me wonder why I ever left her."

"You didn't leave her. Remember?"

"Oh. Right. She left me. I don't think I ever apologized for the way I treated her in my younger years."

"You could tell her today. I know her. She has a soft heart and will understand."

"No. I honestly wouldn't blame her if she didn't want to see me."

"John..............you won't know unless you try."

"But what if.........................." John paused.

"What if what?"

"What if old feelings start up again?"

"Oh. Um..................I-I don't know. I never realized you would ask THAT question."

"Its a reasonable question. It happens. Don't think I'm daft for thinking that."

"Yer not daft."

"Maybe I'll just see Julian for a few minutes."

"No John. Spend the day with him. Bring a bottle of scotch you and Jules could share."

"I don't think so. I'm not going to drink."

"That's fine. Then bring him a bottle."

"I wouldn't know what kind he likes though."

"Well...............he could try what you get him. If he doesn't like it, he could let his mum have it."

"Good idea. I'm betting there's going to be a lot of alcohol there since he's now of age............wow.....................am I really that old?"

"You mean, is he really that old?"

"No. I'm old enough to have an 18 year old son. 18 today."

"Yeh. Yer old." Paul laughed.

"Leave."

"Yes sir!" Paul saluted and left.

John got out of bed and the first thing he did was brush his teeth and shave. Afterwards, he packed up the rest of his things and met Paul outside the room.

"Okay. Let's go check out."

They left and got in a car to take them back to the airport. After boarding the jet, the two sat in seats that were side by side.

Paul spoke up. "So, how did you enjoy the show last night?"

John cleared his throat and answered. "It was terrifying honestly."

"But you did fine.............right?"

"Well, I guess so. But we still have a lot of shows to do."

"True. But it should go by very quickly. By the time we're over with this, you would already be used to it."

"I doubt that. I can't get used to this again."

"Sure ye can. It will take some time but ye'll get used to it just like I did."

"But ye've been doing it since we were a band. You never stopped. I did. I only did a couple in the last decade. I dang near got physically sick last night from nerves."

"I know. You also told me that six years ago, you did get sick before a show."

"Yes. My nerves get the best of me at the worst time."

"If I get sick at all during this tour...................."

"Ye'll be fine. Remember, once yer actually up there, its a piece of cake. Just do what you do best."

"That's what you keep telling me. I've been doing what I do best."

"Good. And I'll see to it that you don't back out of this. If you did, ye'll be kicking yerself for that."

"I guess so. Paul.................I don't know how nerves don't get to you."

"I don't really let it bother me. See, if yer thinking about it, you get more nervous and nervous. Right?"

"Yeh."

"I don't try to think of it. You shouldn't either."

"Okay. I see yer point. But I can't help it."

"Yes you can. You have to remember to not let it bother you. Now, lets go see Jules."
