Hunter Exam - Chapter 8

                                    

                                          
"Welcome all! I'm Menchi, your Examiner for the Second Phase!" A woman with teal hair braided into five pigtails introduced herself.
"And I'm Buhara, the other Examiner." The huge guy also introduced himself. Then his stomach growled, causing widespread murmuring among the crowd.
"Sounds like you're hungry." She had an amused smile as she looked up at the big guy. 
"Not just hungry. I'm famished!" He replied, rubbing his huge stomach.
She stood up from her seat and announced to all of us. "Well, there you have it. The Second Phase will be..."
Looked like I guessed it.
"Cooking!" She exclaimed happily, and Lizzy cheered. We saw Grandma Millie cook lots of times, so this should be a piece of cake.
The others weren't surprised at all and started protesting.
"What? We came here to take the Hunter Exam, not cook!" Todo, I thought that was his name, complained.
"Well, your challenge is to prepare a meal that will satisfy us." Menchi put her hands on her hips, not minding their criticism.
"Why do we have to cook?" Another person protested.
"Don't you know? Both of us are Gourmet Hunters!" The woman happily stated.
After hearing the fact, Todo started laughing, the others following along. I was not the one who would make fun of their importance in the Hunter world. Neither was Lizzy.
The laughing died down, with Menchi looking despondent and upset.
"So, Gourmet Hunters, what do want us to make?" Todo asked mockingly.
She let Buhara do the explaining. "Today's required ingredient is pork. You can use any species of pig in the Visca Forest. To prep your dishes, you'll be using these cooking facilities you see here. If we are both satisfied with your dish, you will pass."
"But we won't evaluate taste alone. So take this seriously guys. Is that clear?" Menchi concluded.
This would be harder than I thought, but I would try my best. I would never let my sister down, or Grandma Millie.
"Let the Second Phase commence!" Buhara hit his belly and made a loud gong-like noise, signalling everyone to go out and find the pigs.


"This is going to be easy!" Lizzy exclaimed.
"It sure will be." I replied.
I saw Gon sliding down a steep slope, with Lizzy and Killua joining him. It looked like fun, so I slid down with them. I whooped, stretching my arms out to feel the breeze. When I saw that they had stopped, I got ready for impact. I instantly crashed into Killua, who seemed flustered when he saw that I had landed on his back. Then, Leorio crashed into me with Kurapika crashing into him.
"Oh look. Pigs!" My sister pointed at the large pink creatures chewing on...bones? Wait, this meant...
"They're carnivores?" I questioned.
The pigs roared at the sight of us and started chasing us. We ran away as fast as we could to get away from them.
Some people were still searching for the pigs and we were coming straight to them with a stampede behind us. They tried to run away, but the carnivorous creatures already got to them, sending them flying with their snouts.
I took out my hatchet to try to kill one of these pigs. I ran into one, but it bounced me back with its large snout. I quickly got up before it tried to run me over. I started thinking of a way to find their weak spot. They had strong, durable snouts, and they drove predators away with them. So, if I hit them on their foreheads, then maybe they would go down.
