Hunter's POV:

For a second after Rosa speaks, we all look at her in stunned silence before what she said sinks in. We all sit in a kind of stunned silence for a few more seconds before Eris breaks it. "Why? Who sent for them?"

"I think a better question would be to ask why?" Ash mutters and I nod in agreement. "Who would want to bring the Lauriers here? And presumably with the Starrs as well."

"The Starrs?" Rosa's voice is laced with confusion. "Who are they?"

"Adrienne, Ariadne and Kali Starr," Ash replies when I stay silent. "Three of the most powerful witches ever. They are a hybrid of witch and vampire but Kali was somehow able to retain all of her witch heritage and power whereas for her sisters their power diluted to 50% due to the vampire genes. All three are incredibly lethal and dangerous so I suggest you stay clear of them during the Laurier's visit."

"O-k," Rosa draws the word out and looks at me with a confused expression. What's wrong? She mouths and I shake my head. Giving me a glare I still won't budge since I'm not sure how I'm feeling. Other than the shock of hearing that the Lauriers are dropping by for an unscheduled visit...

"Why now? I didn't think they took unscheduled trips. Especially to see us." I lock my gaze with Ash who seems to catch onto what I'm implying. "Doesn't that strike you as a little odd?"

"Come to think of it, yeah it does." I look towards Mara who looks a little out of her comfort zone. Motioning for her to continue she takes a deep breath and carries on. "I've worked here a couple of times before when previous Masters have come to stay and I've never heard of the Laurier family just coming by unannounced before." She looks between me and Ash. "Have you?"

"Never," Ash replies.

"Nope," I reply, looking once at Rosa who looks deep in thought. Looking at her sideways I'm still trying to decipher her expression when she laughs at me and headbutts me playfully. "Ouch,"

"That can't have hurt," She giggles and I sigh. It didn't. "And stop looking at me like that." She bites her bottom lip and looks away causing me to fight back a laugh. Bloody hell this girl makes me crazy! "Stop it," She moans and looks up at me through her lashes.

"Ok, on one condition." She pauses before looking up at me with the same look, her lip trapped between her teeth. I groan in frustration and she looks at me mischievously. "Stop looking at me like that."

Rosa tilts her head to the side. "Like what Hunter?" She doesn't change her expression and I fight against a sudden desire to kiss her. Almost as if she could hear the thoughts in my head she shifts gently so she's sat more firmly on my lap and her smile broadens. "Better?"

I'm too stunned to speak. Eventually, I manage to reorganize my thoughts enough to answer her. "Stop making it worse. And quit distracting me as well." She giggles behind her hand and closes her eyes. She stays like that for a while until when she opens them again. Now I almost regret asking her that as the serious, guarded look is back in her eyes.
