"Have a safe flight honey, come back soon" My mom hugged me tightly as we stood outside of her car under the overhand of the airport drop off area.
"I will mom, I promise. As soon as I can" I feel bad leaving so soon after Christmas but of course we need to go see Owen's family.
"You too, we love having you here Owen" My mom now hugged him and he hugged her back just as tight. The sight made my heart flutter, no matter how small of an interaction between the two of them during our time here, my heart had the same reaction.
"Okay mom we gotta go, we're gonna miss the plane" I chuckle and pull Owen away from her. We say our final goodbyes and head into the airport, searching for the gate heading to Oklahoma City.
We get on the plane and before I know it, we're in the air. "So are you nervous?" Owen chuckled beside me and I responded with a glare.
"Shut up. For your information, I am nervous but your family is going to love me so it's okay" Maybe if I say it enough it'll become true?
"I know they will, you're just cute when you're nervous" This once again earns him a glare but this one ends in a small peck on his lips because he did call me cute after all.
"Okay brief me on everyone's names again" We spent the rest of the plane ride either listening to music on my phone (because Owen listens to old man music) or with him explaining every detail about his family to me, over and over again.
"Welcome to Oklahoma baby!" Owen struts off the plane and I let out a giggle. He was trying his best to ease my nerves but the closer we got to meeting his family, the more nervous I was. Luckily for me, his step siblings won't be there at all this year because of the pandemic so that's two less people I'll have to impress.
"Hey mom!" Oh shit. Owen runs over to a blonde lady who I assume is his mom, Dinah. She hugs him so I guess my assumption is correct and not that Owen ran up to a random lady and called her mom. I walk up and awkwardly stand behind him while he tells her about the flight and whatnot.
"Oh! I'm assuming you're Olivia? I'm Dinah" She pushes Owen out of the way and holds her arms open to hug me. I smile at her warm personality which instantly puts me at ease.
"Yes, hi it's so nice to meet you!" I give her a quick hug and then back away.
"So you're from Seattle? I've never been there but have always wanted to, it seems like such a cool city" Ah, a topic that I can talk about.
"Yeah it's amazing, I loved living there. Even now that I technically live in LA, I try to go back to Seattle any chance I have because it's so beautiful" She continues asking questions about what there is to do and what I enjoy about it. The conversation lasts the whole ride to their house and I'm glad that his mom is a nice person. I wasn't really expecting her to be bad but sometimes, when you're dating someone their parents can be a dealbreaker.
"So Mike will be home in an hour and then we'll have dinner. Luka is somewhere, probably outside with Bindi" I now know that Mike is Owen's dad and Luka is his older sister, studying does pay off. Dinah lets us in the front door and quickly takes our bags upstairs, ignoring our protests.
"Sooo can we go see Bindi?" I'm bouncing with excitement. I've been waiting to meet Bindi for a long time now, basically since I met Owen.
"All the girls just use me to get to Big Bin" He dramatically sighs but leads me to the back door anyways. "Luka!" Owens sister comes running through the snow and jumps into a hug. "This is Olivia" He introduces me and I shyly stand there, unsure if I should hug her or not.
"Wow he deemed you special enough to bring home? You must be perfect" She throws her arms around me and I chuckle at her. I guess Owen doesn't bring many girls home, that's something to ask him about later. Bindi runs up to us and starts jumping around, clearly excited about her owner being home.
