Present Day.
In London, England.~ Chloe Jones ~
Peter Pan and the boys got aboard the Jolly Roger. Peter's eyes scanned the ship for any of Captain Hook's crew. He glanced back at the lost boys and nodded. They spread out and began searching the ship for Tiger Lily.
"Well, if it isn't young Peter Pan." A deep yet familiar voice called out. Peter whipped around, pulling a sword out of his belt. "What are you doing abroad my ship?"
"You know why we're here, Captain Hook." He spoke, his eyes narrowed at his enemy. "Now, where's Tiger Lily?" He didn't answer. He smirked at Peter and pulled out his sword before jumping over the railing. Peter knew he had to fight his way to recuse her. With that in mind, he lunged towards Hook and-
"Chloe!" My mom called out, knocking loudly on my bedroom door. It startled me, pulling me out of the book I was reading. "Can I come in?"
"Um, one-second, mom!" I called back as I quickly shoved my book underneath my bed. I sat straight up, facing the door. "Come in!" An instant later, the door opened in. Standing against the doorway was my mother, her hand still on the door handle.
"Everything okay in here?" She questioned, raising her eyebrows at me. I nodded, grinning, then shifted my body in bed, crossing my legs in front. She stared at me for a moment before speaking again. "I just wanted to tell you that I've been asked to go to Brighton to show off my newest invention. I've got to leave as soon as possible, so I asked-"
"The Darlings, if I could stay with them until you get back." I finished for her. She stared blankly. "This isn't the first time you've been asked to travel for your job. I know the drill, Mom." A grin appeared on her face before she walked over to my bed.
"I'm sorry, Chloe." She apologized. "I know we were supposed to spend time together this weekend."
I shrugged my shoulders. "It's okay. I understand." My mom smiled at me, then leaned forward, kissing my forehead.
"How did I get such an amazing daughter like you?" She asked rhetorically. I shrugged once more, making her laugh. Her eyes fell on the floor. They narrowed, spotting something, then she reached her hand down. My heart skipped a beat, knowing she had spotted the storybook.
"What is this?" She asked, picking it up, holding it on her lap. She glanced at me before turning it over to the front cover. "Peter Pan's Neverland Adventures?" She read, questioning the title.
"Mom-"
"Where did you get this?" She asked quickly, standing up. She clinched the book in her hand, but her eyes looked upset. "Chloe, who gave this to you?" She asked, this time her voice a little louder.
"W-Wendy," I answered. "Mom, it's no big deal. It's just a storybook. It's a fictional place." She sighed heavily, shaking her head.
"It's not." She whispered to herself. My eyes narrowed at her, then widen.
"Wait, Neverland is real?" I asked with a smile on my face. I waited for her to answer, but she was staring down at the storybook. My smile faded down. I saw my mom start tearing up.
"Yes." She finally answered, whipping her tears away with her hand. "It is." Her eyes flickered over to me, seeing the excited look on my face. "But it's a dangerous place." She added. My head titled confused.
"How would you know?" I questioned. She opened her mouth to speak but quickly closed it. I shook my head. "Have you ever been to Neverland?" She didn't answer me. Instead, she walked over to me, holding out the storybook.
"Gave it back to Wendy at once." She said in a stern voice. "I don't want this book under my roof. We're leaving in an hour, so get to packing." I nodded, then took the book back. As soon as I did, my mom stormed out of my door. It closed behind her with a big slam, making me jump. I stared at the door for a moment, then glanced down at it.
Why did my mom hate it so much?
I shook my head, getting that thought out of my head. I focused my mind on the most important part. Neverland was REAL, and I couldn't wait to tell Wendy. This news got me even more excited to go to the Darlings.
I jumped off my bed and rushed to began packing.

I slammed the door behind me as I left my daughter's bedroom. I leaned against her door as I let out a long sigh, calming me down. My hand reached up and played with my pan flute necklace. I glanced down at it, sighing again.
Chloe didn't know what I knew about Neverland. Or about the person who ruled it. It's been quite a long time since I lived there and quite a long time since I've spoken his name- Peter Pan.
